Lakewood, N.J. - An eight-goal second period put Georgian Court University on the road to victory as the Lions went on to topple Post University, 17-8, securing an always-important conference win Saturday morning in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's lacrosse action.
With the score tied 3-3 after the initial 15:00 of action, Post's
Dylan Heald (Fr.-Colchester, Conn.) broke the stalemate and provided the road team a slim 4-3 surplus at 14:11 in the second frame. That would be the last cushion of the day for the Eagles as the Lions took off on a 10-0 run to take an insurmountable 13-4 lead with 10:13 to go in the third.
The two squads would evenly split the contest's eight remaining tallies, with GCU owning a 49-33 shot advantage on the day.
Eight different Lions found the back of the net in the rout.
Tanner Lee provided seven points, collecting four goals and three assists on the day.
Devin Bell drained a quartet of goals while
Daniel Burnham (2 goals, 2 assists) and
Lucas Iarossi (3 goals, assist) added four points apiece.
Michael Ventresca sent in a pair and dished a helper for three points.
Dylan Pool distributed three assists for the royal-and-gold.
Justin Iannarone enjoyed a career day at the center circle as the sophomore not only went 16-for-23 in face-off attempts, he also secured an incredible 11 ground balls for the Lions.
Dawson Heath followed with seven grounders of his own.
