Caldwell, N.J.- Georgian Court University officially put Tuesday's setback (vs. Chestnut Hill College) in the rearview mirror with a 15-9 road win at Caldwell University Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's lacrosse action.
The Lions stay a perfect 4-0 away from home with the victory and improve to 3-1 vs. conference foes (7-2 overall). The Cougars slip to 3-4 on the year (1-2 CACC). The contest marks the first between the two programs. Caldwell University debuted its men's lacrosse squad in 2020, but the campaign was suspended before the teams could face off.
The GCU offense started the day red-hot, developing a healthy 8-1 advantage with 1:37 to go in the first period. The Cougars countered by netting seven of the game's next 10 tallies to close the gap to 11-8 with 1:32 left in the third stanza. Caldwell would be unable to climb any closer as the Lions ran off a 4-0 run to create an insurmountable 15-8 cushion with 3:21 remaining in regulation.
Nine different Lions found the back of the net for Georgian Court with six recording two or more goals in the effort.
Lucas Iarossi paced the victors with two goals and two assists while
Tanner Lee and
Randy Collins added two tallies and a helper apiece.
Michael Ventresca,
Daniel Burnham, and
Dylan Pool netted two goals each.
Austin Geissel moves to 7-2 on the year after registering 11 saves in the complete-game effort as the Lions' net-minder. Georgian Court out-shot the Cougars, 52-35.
Georgian Court returns to action this Tuesday when the Lions welcome Wilmington University to campus at 3:30 p.m. for another CACC showdown.
