Devaney Records Six Goals as Lions Secure Second-Straight 18-8 Decision

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University, for the second-straight outing, secured an 18-8 decision as the Lions topped visiting Post University by 10 Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse action.

GCU also defeated Wilmington University by an identical score earlier this week on the road. The victory moves GCU to 8-2 on the year (5-0 CACC) and extends the program's winning streak vs. CACC foes to 38-straight (including postseason). The upstart Eagles move to 5-2 (5-2 CACC) overall.

Post matched the powerhouse Lions goal-for-goal for a majority of the first half as the two squads were locked in a 5-5 stalemate with 8:46 to go before the break. The home team proceeded to step on the gas and launch a 5-0 run, which doubled up the Eagles (10-5) at the 24:43 mark of the second half. With the score now 11-7 GCU, the royal-and-gold would put the game out of reach after a 7-0 push expanded the surplus to 18-7 with 3:50 left.

Heather Devaney topped all players with her six goals (one assist) in the triumph. Alyssa Wahl equaled her teammate with seven points of her own as the sophomore enjoyed four tallies and three helpers. Madison Heck collected five points (two goals, three assists). Sabrina Chandler provided a balanced attack consisting of two goals, two assists, and six draw controls. Amanda Marino added two scores in the eventual rout.

Alexis Hahn, the reigning CACC Goalkeeper of the Week, grabbed nine saves in the complete-game performance. The Lions out-shot Post by a margin of 37-23.

First-place GCU now gears up to host its arch-rival, Jefferson, this Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in a highly-anticipated showdown. The Rams (9-1, 6-0 CACC) currently sit in second-place on the CACC standings board.
