Philadelphia, Pa. - The wins keep on coming for Georgian Court University as the Lions coasted to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road sweep of Chestnut Hill College Thursday afternoon, besting the host-Griffins by scores of 14-5 (5 inn.) and 9-0. The victories put GCU at a perfect 6-0 in conference play, while extending the squad's winning streak to 11.
A seven-spot in the top of the first set the tone in the opener as the Lions posted runs in all five frames of its 14-5 game one triumph. GCU, hitting .350 as a club after 12 contests, peppered Chestnut Hill for 14 hits in the win, five of which were extra-base efforts.Â

Alyssa Herrera led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, which included three runs scored and a solo home run for the freshman.
Taylor Barraza (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI),
Carleigh Luzzo (2-for-3, R, RBI) and
Malia Black (2-for-2, R, RBI) also posted multi-hit efforts. RF
Malaya Black (1-for-3) jacked her first long ball of the year, a two-run shot in the fourth.
Samantha Fohrman (5-0) continues her dominance in the circle for GCU as the sophomore struck out nine in her 3.1 shutout innings of work to earn the win. The Cottage Grove, Minn. native now owns an miniscule ERA of 0.68 and 51 strikeouts in just 31.0 total innings.
After taking an initial 1-0 lead in the third inning of the night cap, Georgian Court scorched the Griffins for five more in the fourth as the Lions rolled to the eventual 9-0 blanking of Chestnut Hill (1-13, 1-11 CACC). Barraza (2-for-4, 2 RBI) ripped two more hits to close the afternoon with four knocks and four ribbies.
Jayda Jones (2-for-2, 2 R, 2 BB), who belted her first collegiate home run Tuesday vs. USciences, went deep again on this day with a solo shot in the fifth.

Alyssa Rue cranked her first long ball as a Lion in the seventh, a two-run shot, to put a lid on the Georgian Court offensive onslaught.
Mikayla Gilgert went the distance for GCU, scattering five hits and striking out a season-high 13 (1 BB), to improve to a team-best 6-1 on the season.
