Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Taking the field for the first time since March 18, Georgian Court University visited #18 Mercy College Thursday afternoon, falling to the Mavericks by a score of 18-10 in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action.
The Lions (3-1) played Mercy close throughout a majority of the first, trailing only by a 7-5 count with 1:40 remaining in the initial stanza. The Mavericks proceeded to gallop on a 6-0 sprint to take what would be an insurmountable 13-5 lead at the 18:01 mark of the second half. The two squads would match each other with five tallies apiece the rest of way.
Shaine Sauter paced GCU with four points on the day, collecting three goals and an assist in the effort.
Madison Heck also registered a hat trick while
Heather Devaney and
Amanda Marino recorded two goal each.
Sabrina Chandler won a game-high 10 draw controls for the royal-and-gold.
Mercy (5-1) owned the shot column with a 37-20 surplus, including a 29-18 margin on frame.
