Four Lions Net Double Figures in 68-65 Edging vs. Goldey-Beacom College

Lakewood, N.J. - Four different Lions collected scoring outputs of 10 or more points Wednesday evening as Georgian Court University lost a 68-65 nail-biter to visiting Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference divisional action.

GCU, still looking for its first-ever triumph over the Lightning (0-16 all-time), fall to 3-15 (2-8 CACC) on the season. GBC, with the three-point triumph, moves to 10-7 (6-2 CACC).

A Donavin Crawford lay-up with 6:44 to go in the first half provided the home team a game-best, eight-point surplus of 33-25. The royal-and-gold skipped into intermission with a 41-37 lead before the two teams kicked off a second stanza that witnessed five lead changes and four stalemates.

After a Jelani Jackson jumper knotted the score at 57-57 with 5:28 left, the Lightning struck for a modest 9-4 spurt to go ahead by five (66-61) with 2:28 remaining in regulation. The Lions would land the game's next for points to inch within one at the 1:31 mark, but a pair of Goldey-Beacom free throws over the balance of time would provide the visitors the insurance needed for the road win.

Juran Ligonde (Jr.-Boston, Mass.) highlighted the Goldey-Beacom lineup with a double-double performance of 25 points and 15 rebounds, including an 11-of-19 shooting effort from the floor. Nazim Derry (So.-Atlantic City, N.J.), playing all 40 minutes, poured in 14 points while Mattia Morini (So.-Bologna, Italy) added 11 points and six boards for the Lightning.

Clint Wright, Jr., who nailed the thrilling buzzer-beating three-pointer to defeat Wilmington University at home Monday night, added a team-best 23 points on this night. The junior, who hit five-of-five three point efforts en route to 17 first-half points, has netted double-digits in all but one outing this season, and has eclipsed the 20-point threshold on six separate occasions.

Titus Beard and Olisa Ngonadi (eight rebounds) added 10 points apiece for the Lions. Jelani Jackson, seeing his first action since Dec. 16 at Nova Southeastern, also contributed 10 points in his return for GCU. Shane Williams cleared the glass of a team-best 11 rebounds in his 38 minutes of play.

The Lions take to the road for its next action as Georgian Court travels north to take on Post University this Friday for a 4:00 p.m. CACC matinee.
