Trio of Double-Doubles Highlights Start-to-Finish Women's Basketball Triumph Over Goldey-Beacom

Lakewood, N.J. - Double-double performances by Erika Aspajo, Anyssa Fields, and Leighanna Lister highlighted Wednesday night's 81-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference divisional victory for Georgian Court University women's basketball, a contest the Lions led in from start to finish.

GCU, after having its previous four outings postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, returned with a renewed energy as the royal-and-blue improve to 6-9 (3-5 CACC) with the home win. The Lightning fall to 7-10 (2-7 CACC).

Owning a 35-23 lead at intermission, Georgian Court increased its cushion to a game-best 21 points when a Nerea Brajac free throw put the Lions up, 55-34, with 1:31 to go in the third period. GCU's advantage would remain in double-digits the rest of the way en route to the always-important divisional triumph.

Aspajo's 15 points and 10 assists (four steals) in 32 total minutes provided the freshman point guard her first collegiate double-double effort. Fields authored her third double-double of the year with 17 points and 12 boards (three assists) in her 33 minutes of play. Lister lands her team-best sixth of the season with 11 points and 10 boards (two blocks).

Ivona Krakic, seeing her first action since Jan. 2 at Caldwell, returned to the hardwood in a big way as the senior fell just short of her own double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds (two blocks) in 29 minutes.

Briana Seltzer (So.-Reading, Pa.) and Mickey Williams (So.-Wamboin, Australia) paced Goldey-Beacom with 18 and 14 points, respectively.

The Lions take to the road for its next action as Georgian Court travels north to take on Post University this Friday for a 2:00 p.m. CACC matinee.
