Caldwell, N.J. - Taking the floor for the first time in 2022 ( and first time since Dec. 16), Georgian Court University traveled north Wednesday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) interdivisional showdown vs. Caldwell University in a make-up of Sunday's initial postponement.
The Lions suffered a 73-53 setback to the host-Cougars, snapping GCU's two-game winning streak vs. their in-state foe. The 20-point differential marks the largest deficit in the nine-game history of the hardwood rivalry.
Caldwell, playing for the first time since Dec. 12, improves to 5-5 (1-2 CACC) with the conference triumph. Georgian Court experiences its fourth-straight setback and dips to 2-10 (1-3 CACC) on the season.
Anthony Cooper (Sr.-Ashburn, Va.) led the Caldwell onslaught with a game-high 22 points and six assists.
Derrick Bueno (Fr.-Palisades Park, N.J.) snared 12 boards to go along with nine points.
Gerald Blount (Gr.-Jersey City, N.J.) added 10 rebounds and six points of his own in the home win.
Shane Williams and Clint Wright Jr. topped the Georgian Court offense with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
GCU now prepares to play on its home court in over a month (Dec. 4 vs. USciences) as the Lions host Bloomfield College Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
