PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 12, 2022) - Georgian Court played well Wednesday afternoon, but were unable to find the back of the net. Jefferson broke the scoreless tie late in the second-half and made the one-goal lead hold up as the Lions fell 1-0.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court came in with a plan to get shots at the net and they did so totaling 17 to Jefferson's 11.
• Five of the Lions 17 shots were on target while Jefferson hit the net on six shot attempts.
• The Lions were awarded four corner kicks and Rams five.
• GCU picked up 12 fouls and two yellow cards while the Rams were called for seven fouls and booked for one yellow.Â
• Georgian Court came out firing, getting off four shots in the opening 10 minutes. Two went on net, one from
Sam Thombs and another from
Ryan Lee which were saved by Matteo Crescente.

Sotirios Gkosdis made his first save in the 18th minute and that was the only shot Jefferson put on goal in the half.
• In the 27th minute,
Rhys Cotter found himself alone in front of the net, but his shot from close range went high and left as the game remained scoreless.
• Cotter's attempt was the best scoring opportunity for the Lions the rest of the way and the half ended still scoreless.
• Georgian Court got the first two shots in the second half, back-to-back in the 49th minute from Cotter and
Cherif Tammar, but both missed the goal.
• After GCU controlled much of the action, Jefferson found their offense midway through the half.
• Gkosdis made consecutive saves, but in the 72nd minute, the Rams broke through with a goal from Theophilus Ijeboi.
• One minute later, the Lions had a terrific opportunity to draw even but Thombs' attempt hit the cross bar. GCU still possessed and got shots from
Francisco Corral and
Mikey Mallon, but couldn't find the equalizer.Â
• Twice in the final 10 minutes
Ryan Lee put shots on net, only to be stopped by Crescente.Â
