Lions Soccer Hits the Road For Friday Match

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Oct. 20, 2022) - There's just two games left on the conference schedule for Georgian Court Men's Soccer. They'll look to keep their postseason hopes alive in this final week, starting with a match Friday afternoon.

Previously vs. Dominican
• It took more than 90 minutes and at the end, there still was no victor in a 2-2 draw last season in Lakewood.
• Things looked grim for the Lions who were down 2-0 with less than 10 minutes to play.
Louis Silva scored on a penalty kick in the 81st minute to make it a 2-1 game.
Daniel Deutz then evened things with a goal with 2:39 left to play.
• Dominican scored two first-half goals to take a 2-0 lead, but Gianluca Cersosimo kept them out in the second half and overtime. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court played one of their best matches of the season, upsetting Bridgeport on homecoming 2-1.
Francisco Corral got the scoring started in the 37th minute. A defensive misplay led to a one-on-one opportunity and he didn't miss for a 1-0 lead.
• Bridgeport tied things up midway through the second half from a free kick 20 yards out.
• With 15 minutes left to play, Jay Abraham hit the game-winner from 25 yards out after a Bridgeport failed clearance.
Sotirios Gkosdis preserved the win making five saves in the final 15 minutes.
Mikey Mallon picked up an assist on each GCU goal.

• Jay Abraham has scored three times this season. The first three goals of his career. He's got nine shots on goal, most on the team.
• Sotirios Gkosdis earned his second CACC Goalkeeper of the Week honor last week going 1-1-0 with a .867 save percentage. 
Mikey Mallon assisted on both goals in the win over Bridgeport.
• Francisco Corral has two goals and an assist his last four games.
