Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Soccer Ends Season With 2-1 Win at Chestnut Hill

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. (Oct. 25, 2022) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer played their final match of 2022, but ended on a high note, upsetting sixth place Chestnut Hill 2-1. The Lions scored two goals within just three minutes of each other in the second half and that was enough as they end the season 4-7-7.

How it Happened
• It was an evenly matched game with each team taking nine shots. Georgian Court put seven on net and the Griffins four.
• Chestnut Hill tried to play aggressive early but were called offsides eight times, six in the first half.
• Each team was in double-figures for fouls, 13-10 in favor of CHC. The Griffins were also carded three times and Lions twice.
• Georgian Court had the first couple of scoring opportunities. A shot and two corner kicks for the Lions in the first five minutes didn't result in anything on net.
• Chestnut Hill's first shot came at the 7:13 mark, but that sailed wide. At 10:33, Alyssa Dias was tested for the first time, making a save on Olivia Medeiros.
• The Lions were controlling the game in the middle of the half. Sydney Kulenguski and Jane Paschen each had shots saved by Kaitlyn Carter.
• For more than 20 minutes, neither team got a shot off, let alone a shot on net. Following Paschen's shot in the 18th minute, the Lions didn't attempt another the rest of the half. Chestnut Hill tried twice in the 39th and 40th minutes but came up empty and the match was still scoreless after 45 minutes.
• The best scoring chance of the match so far came from Chestnut Hill just 80 seconds into half number two. Abby Galazka ripped one that went off the crossbar and stayed out to keep things scoreless.
• Over an hour's worth of soccer had been played and the match was still scoreless. That all changed in the 63rd minute. Georgian Court took advantage of a couple of Chestnut Hill miscues. The Griffins had a throw in deep in the defensive zone. That was picked off immediately by Aliya Canfield. A Lion cross through the box was deflected by a Griffon defender but right to Canfield. She fired from six yards out, got a redirect from the Griffon defender and into the net for a 1-0 lead.
• The Lions weren't finished and immediately kept the pressure on. Sophia Ridolfo dribbled up the right sideline before sending a cross right to left. The ball went wide and looked ticketed to cross the end line for a goal kick, but the Lions saved it. It went right to Sydney Kulenguski who pushed it past the keeper and Georgian Court led 2-0.
• Chestnut Hill picked up the offense down two goals. A header just 2:30 after the Kulenguski goal was saved by Dias. Dias though was unable to stop Rebecca Dalton. Lauren Sullivan's free kick found Dalton's foot who cut the lead in half with 14 minutes left to play.
• Georgian Court's defense stepped up and allowed just one more shot the rest of the way which Dias stopped as GCU held on for the 2-1 win.
