Lions Look to Keep Rolling in Albany

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Nov. 15, 2022) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball continues their season-opening road trip with another nonconference match in New York.

Previously vs. Saint Rose
• The last time these two teams officially met was in November of 2018. The Lions fell that night in Albany 90-74.
• There is not a single current Lion who played in the game that night.
• Georgian Court shot 46.4% that night, but the Golden Knights bested them connecting on 49.2% and hit 12 three-pointers to the Lions eight.
• Caleb Bowser led the Lions scoring 28 points, going 10-21 from the floor. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court picked up a win in the second game of the East Region Classic. They defeated Roberts Wesleyan 85-81. 
• The Lions exploded for 51 first-half points and shot 53% in the first 20 minutes.
• Roberts Wesleyan attempted a comeback in the second-half, but GCU was 5-6 at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds and held on for their first win of the season.
• Jamaal Waters led all scorers with 27 points. He was 11-17 and stepped out for a three as well. He also grabbed 11 boards for a double-double.
• Clint Wright, Jr. added 18 points and went 8-9 at the free throw line.
• Off the bench, Justin Soranno added 12 points going 4-5 from the field and 4-6 at the free throw line.

Who's Hot?
• Transfer Jamaal Waters averaged a double-double the first two games scoring 17.5 points with 11.5 rebounds. He led the Lions with 27 in the win over Roberts Wesleyan. He also blocked five shots. He made the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. 
Clint Wright, Jr. picked up where he left off last year averaging 14.5 points per game and passed out four assists. 
Jalen Bates dished out a team-best seven assists in two games.
Shane Williams connected on three of his four three-point attempts.

Individual Milestones
Clint Wright, Jr. is just five points away from 500 for his career. He'll become just the sixth Lion to reach that milestone.
Christian Armstrong-Thomas will reach 100 rebounds with six more and is three made field goals shy of 50.
• With six more made three-pointers, Jelani Jackson will become the 10th Lion to make 50 in his career. 

Lions in the CACC
Jamaal Waters is currently second in the CACC in rebounds per game with 11.5 and second at 2.5 blocks per game. 
Shane Williams is tied for third in three-point FG% at 75% and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio. 
• The Lions as a team are second in the CACC in blocks per game and third in rebounds per game.
• GCU has allowed a league-best 29.1 three-point percentage from their opponents. 

About the Opponents
Saint Rose Golden Knights

• Saint Rose has gotten off to a 1-1 start after playing a pair of CACC schools last week. They defeated Bloomfield in their season opener but but got beat at the buzzer by Dominican.
• In the Northeast-10 preseason poll, the Lions were picked to finish ninth out of 12 teams.
• A year ago, St. Rose went 14-12 overall and 10-9 in conference with their season coming to an end in the NE10 championship quarterfinal round.
• The Golden Knights are scoring 85 points per game and have made 24-47 three-pointers.
• Opposing teams however are also shooting at a high clip from behind the arc, having hit 27-51 against Saint Rose.
• The Golden Knights have done a great job on the glass with a rebounding margin of +11.5.
• Shane O'Dell is averaging a double-double with 21.5 points and 11 points per game while shooting 57.6% overall.
