Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - Hitting the road for the first time in 2022, Georgian Court University visited mighty foe, Mercy College, Tuesday in non-conference men's lacrosse action. The #5 Mavericks proved to be too much for the Lions as the home team ran away with the 21-5 victory.
Mercy moves to 2-0 with the triumph while GCU drops to 0-2 to start the season.
The end result never seemed to be in doubt as the Mavericks owned a solid 7-1 cushion after one period of action, and an inflated 15-3 surplus at halftime. The victors poured in another six goals in the second stanza to secure the triumph. Mercy out-shot its guest by a 47-32 margin with a 30-16 advantage on frame.
Seven Mavericks recorded multi-goal performances in the win.
Brady Kearnan (Sr.-Courtice, Ontario) dazzled with a 10-point effort, which included four goals and six helpers on the day.
Dominic Scorcia (Gr.-Franklin Square, N.Y.) provided four goals and an assist of his own.
Tallen Smith continues to be the shining star of the Georgian Court offense as the sophomore, for the second-straight outing, topped the team with two tallies.

Tommy Umano (Sr.-Seaford, N.Y.), playing the first 30:52 in the Mercy frame, earned the win (two saves).
Andrew Candino (0-1), in his first collegiate start, recorded seven saves in 30:00 between the Georgian Court pipes.
The Lions remain on the road for its next action as GCU treks to Albany, New York for the program's first-ever men's lacrosse showdown with The College of Saint Rose (1:00 p.m.).
