Furious Postseason Push One Win Away From Fruition as Georgian Court Tops First-Place Chestnut Hill on Road, 62-55

Philadelphia, Pa. - Georgian Court University's incredible push for the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference south division finds itself just one victory from finality as the Lions upended first-place Chestnut Hill College on the road, 62-55, Wednesday night in women's hoops action.

The Lions (12-12, 9-8 CACC), winners in six of their last seven outings, clinch the south's last remaining postseason position with a win Thursday night as GCU welcomes Wilmington University (1-20, 1-17 CACC) to campus at 6pm. Georgian Court defeated the Wildcats, 77-45, last week down in Delaware.

After trailing by three (13-10) after the first period of play, the Lions rolled Chestnut Hill in the second quarter by a 23-12 margin, resulting in an eight-point halftime lead of 33-25. Georgian Court would be looking into its rearview mirror the rest of the way as the road team never relinquished its advantage. The Griffins (22-5, 15-2 CACC) erased a 12-point third quarter deficit and inched to within one point (53-52) with 3:57 remaining in the final frame, but ultimately could not overcome the royal-and-gold.

Nerea Brajac continues her scalding shooting as the graduate student drained a game-best 15 points in 29 minutes off the GCU bench. Anyssa Fields followed with 12 points while Leighanna Lister cleared the glass of a game-high 10 boards.

Chestnut Hill senior star, Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.), paced the Griffins with 11 points and eight rebounds in the setback.
