Lakewood, N.J. - An 11-1 opening period set the scene Tuesday afternoon at Georgian Court University as #11 Adelphi University coasted to a 23-3 non-conference road win over the Lions in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action.
The Panthers (1-0), taking the field for the first time in 2022, closed out the first half with a 14-1 surplus and never looked back as AU dominated the shot column, 34-10, with a 28-8 advantage on frame in the victory.
Nine players netted goals for AU in the effort, including four with four or more tallies.
Christina McCabe (RSr.-Oceanside, N.Y.) paced the Panthers with five goals and two assists.
Izzy Grant (Fifth Year - Malverne, N.Y.),
Kerrin Heuser (Jr.-Hicksville, N.Y.),
Megan Keener (Gr.-Merrick, N.Y.) followed with four goals apiece.
Emily Beier (Gr.-West Islip, N.Y.) and
Danielle Marino (Jr.-West Islip, N.Y.) added five and four assists, respectively, in the rout.
Shaine Sauter, the reigning CACC Player of the Week after a five-goal, eight-point performance in Sunday's opening day, 9-5 win over Molloy, again topped the team on this time out with two of the Lions' three scores.
Alyssa Wahl accounted for the other with an unassisted fourth-quarter tally.
Emma Lemanski (Gr.-Wantagh, N.Y.) collected three saves in 45:00 of action to earn the goalkeeping victory for Adelphi.
Alexis Hahn went the distance for GCU, recording five saves for the royal-and-gold.
The Lions (1-1) regroup before heading on the road for the first time this season on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference regional tilt scheduled at Bloomsburg University.
