Waterbury, Conn. - After fighting through a relentless non-conference slate, which included four showdowns with nationally-ranked foes, Georgian Court welcomed the commencement of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Saturday morning as the Lions opened with an 18-3 road win at Post University.
Leading 9-1 after the initial 15 minutes of play, and developing an 11-goal margin heading in to halftime (14-3), the Lions ultimately cruised to their 43rd-consecutive win over a CACC opponent (including postseason). The victory puts GCU at a perfect 17-0 all-time vs. Post (1-5, 0-1 CACC).
Six different Lions recorded tallies for the royal-and-gold, paced by
Sabrina Chandler (four goals, assist) and
Shaine Sauter (five goals) with five points apiece.
Riley O'Connor flicked in a hat trick of her own while
Heather Devaney,
Isabel Raimondi, and
Remi Reinhardt connected on a pair each.
The victors owned a 20-shot surplus of 35-15 in the match, while presenting a perfect clear column at 14-for-14.Â
Alexis Hahn collected her second victory in net for GCU with five saves over her 60:00.
Christina Badaracco (Deer Park, N.Y.) did what she could to keep the Eagles afloat with 10 saves in the junior's own complete-game effort.Â
GCU (2-7, 1-0 CACC) stays on the road for its next outing as the Lions pay a visit to Nyack College Tuesday evening. The game will played at Berry Lane Park (Jersey City, N.J.) with a 7:30 p.m. first draw.
