Softball Suffers Second-Straight Sweep With Defeats vs. Tiffin, Missouri-Saint Louis ... Scimone Provides Offensive Spark With First Career Clout in Game One

Winter Haven, Fla. - #22 Georgian Court suffered its second-straight sweep, and has fallen in six of its last seven outings, as the Lions lost match-ups to Tiffin University and the University of Missouri-Saint Louis Wednesday in The Spring Games.

In the opener, the Dragons (5-7) dropped a five-spot on GCU in the first frame and never looked back en route to the 6-3 victory. Alaina Scimone provided the lone highlight on offense for Georgian Court as the sophomore slammed her first home run sporting the royal and gold, a two-run shot, in the last half of the seventh inning.

Kaitlyn Stufft, the CACC Player of the Week, added her team-leading 10th RBI of the eight-game season with a two-out, run-inducing single in the game's final frame.

Claire Feldcamp (So.-Perrysburg, Ohio) went the distance for the Tiffin win (7 IP), permitting the three runs on six hits and five free passes (12K). Mikayla Gilgert (2-3), after a rocky start with five runs (4 ER) in the initial stanza, settled down nicely for GCU permitting no runs over the final four innings of her outing (5.0 IP, 5H, 3 BB, 3K).

The Lions scraped out just one lone knock in the nightcap, a 3-0 loss in the program's first-ever meeting with the Tritons (6-5). Adriana Mungo slipped a rope through the right side in the third inning to account for the hit. Missouri-Saint Louis plated a tally in the second, and two more in third, to provide the victors with more than enough run support.

Annie Scaramuzzi (Jr.-Oswego, Ill.) collected the victory for the 6-6 Tritons, permitting just one hit with two walks and eight strikeouts over seven full. Sarah Clancy (0-3) took the defeat for GCU, yielding the three runs on 10 hits (0 BB, 1 K) with an efficient 79 total pitches in the complete-game (6 IP) performance.

Georgian Court (2-6) sits idle Thursday before returning competition Friday morning with contests vs. the University of Charleston (10:00 a.m.) and Cedarville University (12:15 p.m.)
