Two Straight Wins For Men's Lacrosse as Lions Extinguish Firebirds of UDC, 14-11

Washington, D.C - Georgian Court University put together its second-straight victory Wednesday afternoon as the Lions held off the University of the District of Columbia, 14-11, on the road in NCAA Division II regional men's lacrosse action.

Trailing by a 9-4 margin with 10:22 to go in the first half,  the Firebirds' offense heated up as UDC(1-3) sent in four of the contest's next five scoring efforts to slice the deficit to 10-8 at the 6:17 mark of the third period. GCU countered by connecting on four of the game's next six tallies to take an ultimately insurmountable 14-10 advantage with 2:18 remaining in regulation.

Tallen Smith led the charge on this day for the Lions as the sophomore scorched UDC for five goals, while scooping a team-high nine ground balls. Daniel Burnham authored a five-point day of his own with a tally and four helpers. Devin Bell and Michael Ventresca ended the afternoon with two goals and an assist each.

Sebastian Farah grabs his third win of the year in net for the royal-and-gold as the senior keeper gathered 13 saves in the complete-game performance.

The Lions (3-8) return to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. visit to Wilmington University (Newark, Del.).
