Manchester, N.H. - Georgian Court University, making its first-ever visit to Saint Anselm College, left the Granite State still looking to fill the win column as the Lions experienced a 16-5 setback to the #9 Hawks Saturday in men's lacrosse regional competition.
Saint Anselm (2-0) opened the contest with a 5-1 surplus after one period of play, and a comfortable 12-3 lead at the half en route to the home victory. The Lions slip to 0-5 after the defeat.
Daniel Burnham paced GCU with a pair of goals in the effort, while the trio of
Thomas Heegan,
Michael Ventresca, and
Ryan Rigby accounted for the remaining tallies for the royal-and-gold. Nine different Hawks found the back of the net for the victors.
Jack Andrews (Jr.-Cumberland, R.I.) and
Sean Tomaszewski (Gr.-Arlington, Mass.) led the way for Saint Anselm with five and four goals, respectively.
The Hawks out-shot Georgian Court by an emphatic margin of 74-19, including an off-kilter 42-11 advantage on frame.
CJ Hart (Sr.-Reading, Mass.), with his six saves over 47:44 of action, earned the goalkeeping win for the home team.
Sebastian Farah did all he could to keep the Lions in the contest, garnering a commendable 26 saves in the effort.
GCU returns to campus to host Molloy College this Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
