All or Nothing Saturday For #22 Lions as Georgian Court Lands on Both Ends Of Shutout Decisions in Sunshine State Finales

Winter Haven, Fla. - #22 Georgian Court University found itself on both ends of shutout decisions Saturday as the Lions closed out its annual 12-game trek to the Sunshine State with an 8-0 (6 inn.) loss to the University of Central Missouri, followed by a 10-0 (5 inn.) rout of regional foe, American International College.

The Jennies (5-10) struck early and often in the opener, plating single tallies in the first and third frames, followed by a three-spot in the second and sixth. UCM rapped 13 hits in the blanking which included three two-baggers and a triple for the victors.

Kaitlyn Stufft continues to be the Lions' most consistent slugger as the clean-up hitter went 2-for-3 in the setback.

It would be Georgian Court's turn to dial up the offense in the nightcap as the royal-and-blue smacked 10 hits en route to the five-frame dismissal of AIC (1-1). Katie Lorenz accounted for three RBI for the victors as the GCU backstop went 2-for-3 at the dish with a double. SS Alyssa Rue (1-for-3) drilled a two-run single to left-center in the home half of the second. RF Taylor Lipkins enjoyed a 2-for-2 (1 RBI) showing while CF Kiara Meikle muscled her first long ball of the year, a solo shot to left in the seventh-and-final stanza.

Mikayla Gilgert, for the second-straight outing and fourth time on the trip, contributed a complete-game shutout as the Lions' ace permitted just two hits over five innings, striking out nine Yellow Jackets (0 BB) in the gem.

Georgian Court (5-7) jets north to see its first home action of the season as the Lions welcome Queens College (NY) to campus Thursday for a 2:00 p.m. regional twin-bill.
