Lakewood, N.J. - After an opening day victory over Molloy College back on Feb. 20, Georgian Court University has yet to return to the win column as the Lions suffered their fifth-straight setback Tuesday with a 19-7 home loss to Millersville University in women's lacrosse regional action.
The win puts the visiting Marauders at a perfect 3-0 to start the campaign while GCU drops to 1-5 with the defeat. Leading 9-5 at intermission, Millersville dominated the second stanza, 10-2, and closed out contest with six-straight tallies.Â
Six Marauders netted two or more goals in the triumph, paced by
Kristi Kada (Jr.-Gilberstville, Pa.) and her five scores.
Grace Cobaugh (Sr.-Collegeville, Pa.) and
Amanda Juliano (Sr.-Garnet Valley, Pa.) authored five-point performances with three goals and two assists apiece.
Gillian Zimmerman (Gr.-New Park, Pa.) contributed a four-goal effort for Millersville.
Heather Devaney and
Riley O'Connor each recorded a pair of goals for the home team.
Isabel Raimondi provided a goal and a helper. Millersville dominated the shot column, 38-21, with a hefty advantage on frame (29-12).
Alexis Hahn did all she could to keep GCU in the game as the junior gathered 10 saves in the Lions' net.
Morgan Scott (Fr.-New Oxford, Pa.) earned the win for Millersville (five saves).
The Lions look to snap its slide this Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. home contest vs. #22 University of New Haven.
