Fifth-Straight Regular-Season Title Secured by Georgian Court as Lions Slam Rams, 23-10, for 50th-Consecutive CACC Win

Philadelphia, Pa. - Georgian Court University continues to roll in conference competition as the Lions slammed the Jefferson Rams, 23-10, Tuesday afternoon to clinch the fifth-consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular-season crown for the royal-and-gold.

GCU (9-7, 8-0 CACC), extending its CACC winning streak to 50-straight (including postseason), once again secures the #1 seed (and a first-round bye) in the CACC Championship Tournament, which commences next Tuesday, Apr. 26 (quarterfinals). Georgian Court will be the site of the semifinals (Apr. 29) and finals (Apr. 30) later that week.

With the scored knotted at 5-5 after the first period of action vs. Jefferson (9-5, 7-1 CACC), the Lions outscored its host, 9-2, in the second as GCU doubled up the Rams, 14-7, heading into intermission. Georgian Court poured on the offense in the third, netting five more tallies to kick off the running clock with a 19-9 cushion heading into the final frame.

Six different Lions pocketed five or more points in the rout, with Shaine Sauter and her seven-point (5 goals, 2 assists) contribution leading the way. The senior also added four caused turnovers and a pair of grounders in the win. Heather Devaney (3 G, 3 A) and Isabel Raimondi (2 G, 4 A) accounted for six points apiece. Sabrina Chandler fired home five tallies for the visitors while Riley O'Connor netted four scores to go with a helper.

Jessica Rogers forced three turnovers and collected a trio of ground balls. Kelsey Naclerio cleaned up four grounders of her own on the Lions' back line.

Alexis Hahn (9-7) secured seven saves en route to the complete-game victory in the GCU cage. The Lions out-shot Jefferson, 36-23 (30-17 on frame).

Georgian Court remains on the road to close out the CACC regular-season this Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. visit to Felician University. The contest will be played at Paramus Catholic High School in Paramus, N.J.
