Rockville Centre, N.Y. - Georgian Court's Jayda Jones jacked her first home of the year, and Adriana Mungo smacked a RBI double, as the Lions edged Molloy College, 2-1 ,in the opener as the foes eventually split a non-conference set Thursday afternoon.

Jones, a 2021 D2 CCA Second Team All-American, connected in the third inning for her first long ball in almost a year (4/30/21 at Post Univ.) as the sophomore slugger continues to recover from off-season surgery. Mikayla Gilgert (18-6) shined in the circle for GCU as the ace scattered five hits and a walk (8 K) in the complete-game gem.

Things quickly soured in the nightcap as Molloy mashed GCU, 15-1 (5 inn.), in what represents the Lions' worst loss since falling at Adelphi University, 16-0 (5 inn.) on March 17, 2018. A run-scoring double off the bat of Kaitlyn Stufft plated Georgian Court's lone run in the first frame of the game. The sophomore now owns a CACC-best 52 RBI on the year.

The royal-and-gold (28-12) looks to rebound this Saturday in a highly-anticipated campus clash with top CACC rival, Caldwell University. First pitch of game one is slated for 2:00 p.m. on the GCU campus. Both squads are tied atop the conference standings at 16-2.
