Two Games On Tap for GCU Volleyball

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Sept. 20, 2022) - Georgian Court Volleyball is back in action this week. They'll play twice in a three day span against a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foes.

Previously vs. Goldey-Beacom
• Last season the Lions made quick work of Goldey-Beacom each time they met. The Lions swept GBC 3-0 both home and away.
• In their September meeting, the Lions hit .223 to the Lightning .086. Nahomie Alejandro Negron and Nylene Mateo each had double-figure kills. 
• The teams met again in Wilmington in October and it was another sweep for the Lions. GCU set the tone taking set one 25-8.
• Grace Fenn and Kinsy Haschke each had 12 kills in the match. Nylene Mateo added nine.

Previously vs. Post
• In their lone meeting in 2021, the Lions went on the road and swept Post 3-0 in Waterbury, Conn.
• Kinsy Haschke had a 10 kill, 10 dig double-double as the Lions hit .304 for the match.
• Grace Fenn had a team-best 11 kills.

Last Time Out
• Saturday afternoon the Lions took on Lincoln (PA) in nonconference action. They came away with a sweep 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.
• Amiyah Woods was a force up the middle connecting for a game-high 12 kills on just 18 attempts for a .611 hitting percentage.
• Chelsea Ross was just as efficient hitting .429 with seven kills on 14 attempts.
• Ava Venneri added eight kills and six digs.
• Jessica Sprankle filled out the stat sheet with six kills, eight digs and four service aces.
• Iciar Zayas handed out 22 assists to go along with four digs.
• Jana Borkovic finished with seven digs.
• Dayna Diaz collected three service aces and two assists.

About the Opponents
Goldey-Beacom Lightning

• The Lightning are still in search of their first win of the season. They are 0-13 and 0-2 in CACC play.
• GBC has won just two sets. They've been swept in 11 of 13 matches.
• The Lightning rank near the bottom of the CACC in nearly every category. They are hitting .045 for the season and averaging 7.63 kills per set and 11.49 digs per set.
• Goldey-Beacom has had issues with service reception, allowing 150 service aces, 3.66 per set. 
• Piper Nanouski leads the team with 92 kills and 2.24 kills per set. 
• Claudia Camporro is seventh in the league with 3.76 digs per set. 

Post Eagles
• Post snapped a three-match losing streak defeating Alliance 3-0 last Saturday. They'll take on Bloomfield on the road Wednesday, before heading to Lakewood Friday.
• For the season, the Eagles are 4-8 and 2-2 in the CACC. Away from home though, Post is just 2-8. 
• Post hangs their hat on the defensive end. They lead the conference and are 35th nationally in digs per set at 16.92.
• They also lead the CACC in opponent hitting percentage, as teams are hitting just .153 against the Eagles.
• Lydimar Soto leads the team with 2.56 kills per set. He had 32 kills and 30 digs last week and made the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.
• The setter is Maria Branco who dishes out 6.78 assists per set. She also digs up 3.14 digs per set.
• Alyssa Groves is the defensive leader with 3.84 digs per set, sixth in the CACC. 
• Autumn Spendlove is the team's setter passing out 6.15 assists per set.
