PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 25, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball went on the road looking for revenge against one of the top teams in the CACC, Holy Family, The Tigers were 9-1 in conference play this season, with one of those wins an overtime victory in Lakewood in November. Georgian Court came out determined and one their best shooting performance of the season as they took down Holy Family 66-53 to earn a split of the season series and improve to 6-10 this season, 4-6 in CACC action.
How it Happened
• The Lions put on a clinic shooting at a 54% clip. The defense did their part as well as Holy Family was just 16-63 overall.
• Most of the Lions work was done around the basket. They outscored the Tigers 34-18 in the paint. They also assisted on 22 of 27 made baskets.Â
• At the free throw line, Georgian Court sunk 10-11 while Holy Family was 15-18.
• Total rebounding numbers were about even, 36-34 in favor of the Lions, but HFU did outrebound GCU 17-6 on the offensive glass.Â
• It took two minutes before either team got on the board.
Jariah Patterson right at the eight minute mark scored on a jumper from a feed from
Tian Addison. Holy Family then went on to score the next five, but thanks to an 11-0 run, Georgian Court took a 13-5 lead and never trailed again. The Lions were 5-5 from the field while also coming away with two steals.
• In the final 90 seconds of the quarter,
Hayleigh Lagase and A'Nyah Barker each hit a layup and the Lions led by eight, 17-9, after 10 minutes.
• The score stayed that way through the early portion of the second quarter as well.
Savawn Hughes put in a turnaround jumper to bring the lead to 10 with 6:35 to play in the half.
• Georgian Court's defense was swarming all night long and at no point was that more evident than the 6:13 stretch they held the Tigers scoreless at the end of the first and start of the second periods. Holy Family scored their first points of the second at the 5:55 mark. They cut the lead down to six with 1:03 left to play, but twice they sent Hughes to the line for a pair and she sunk them both going 4-4 to give Georgian Court a 10-point cushion, 26-16, going into halftime.
• The third quarter is where the Lions put the game away. Midway through the frame, GCU went on an 11-1 run to extend their lead to 23, 44-21. GCU was 4-4 from the floor and 3-3 at the free throw line during the stretch.Â
• Holy Family finally scored 10 points in a quarter thanks to a pair of free throws in the closing seconds, but with just one quarter left to play, Georgian Court led by 17, 44-27.
• The Tigers started to see the ball through the hoop in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late, The Tigers were 8-19 for 26 points in the fourth, but Georgian Court matched them scoring 24 of their own.
• With the lead down to 12,
Tian Addison put on the finishing touches. She buried her third three-pointer of the game, then came up with a steal, pass to Barker for the fast-break layup and that put Georgian Court back up 17, 59-42, with 2:49 left to play.Â
• The Tigers again nearly got the lead down to 10, 64-53, but there was just 26 seconds left in the game. Georgian Court finished the game eight for their last nine from the floor shooting 71.4% in the fourth quarter.
It Was Over When...
• The Holy Family offense struggled all night and Georgian Court put the game out of reach late in the third quarter. An 11-1 run put the Lion lead over 20 and out of reach for Holy Family.
Lion Stat Leaders
• Five Lions were in double-figures led by
A'nya Harper's 15. She also came down with six rebounds and six steals.

Savawn Hughes scored 13 with six coming at the free throw line. She grabbed a game-high nine rebounds as well.

Jariah Patterson added 12 with four rebounds.
•
Tian Addison picked up an 11-point, 10-assist double-double while also pulling down five rebounds and swiping three steals.
• A'Nyah Barker was 5-6 from the floor for 11 point with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.Â
For the Tigers
• Taylor Hinkle led Holy Family scoring 15 points going 5-10 from the field.
• Moe Moore scored five points, all at the free throw line. She also secured seven rebounds.Â
• Lindsay Tretter scored 10 with two three-pointers.
• Carolyn Prevost added nine points, five rebounds and four steals.
News and Notes
•
Tian Addison knocked in her 100th career three-pointer. She hit the century mark with a triple at the 3:04 mark of the second quarter to put the Lions up 22-14.
• A'Nyah Barker played in her first career game as a Lion.Â

A'nya Harper recorded her 100th career point.
•
Jariah Patterson scored her 150th point.Â
• All seven Lions who entered the game scored and five reached double-figures.
• Georgian Court held HFU below 10 points in both the first and second quarters. HFU scored 29 points through three quarters and then 26 in the fourth.Â
• The Lions 54% shooting was their highest this season.Â
• It wasn't a perfect game from the Lions. They turned the ball over 23 times, their 10th time with 20 or more turnovers and their second-most in a single game.

• Georgian Court will return home Saturday, Jan. 28 as they host Bridgeport. It'll be the Lions annual Play 4 Kay game. GCU will wear their pink uniforms. They'll also be collecting donations with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.Â
