Volleyball Hosts CACC North's Felician

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 27, 2023) - Georgian Court Volleyball is back home in Lakewood this weekend for a CACC cross-division battle.

Previously vs. Felician
• Georgian Court has never lost to Felician in their history. The Lions are a perfect 24-0.
• Of those 24 wins, 20 have been via a 3-0 sweep.
• In fact, the last time Felician took a set from GCU was in 2015.
• Last year GCU swept the Golden Falcons in Rutherford, but two of the three sets were determined by just two points.
Nylene Mateo led the team with 16 kills and 10 digs.
Ava Venneri added seven kills hitting .375.
Amiyah Woods put back five blocks. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court was looking to make it 2-2 against Wilmington this season Wednesday in Delaware.
• The Lions won the first set, but then dropped three straight as the Wildcats escaped with a win.
Giorgia Cappelletti and Nylene Mateo each had double-doubles with 10+ kills and digs.
Dayna Diaz entered in the middle of set one and passed out 41 assists.
• Both teams hit better than .200 for the match with the Wildcats at .256 and GCU at .207. 

Who's Hot?
• Amiyah Woods is hitting .409 over her last eight matches with 77 kills. 
• Martina Croce has at least eight kills in seven straight matches and double-figure digs in two straight.
• Giorgia Cappelletti has double-figure kills in four straight contests and set a season-high 23 digs against Wilmington.
• Carmen Rivera has 10+ digs in five of her last six matches. 
• Nylene Mateo has double-figure kills in each of her last seven games, averaging 3.64 kills per set over that span. 
Chelsea Ross has just one attack error in her last three matches and is hitting .388 over that stretch.

Playoff Picture
• With three weeks and five games left, it's time to start looking at playoff scenarios.
• The CACC Volleyball standings are split into two divisions with the top-four teams in each making the postseason.
• The CACC South is tight with four teams vying for the final three places. Jefferson sits atop the division at 10-1.
• Georgian Court is 5-6 and currently in fifth place on the outside looking in.
• Chestnut Hill is second at 8-4, Wilmington third at 7-5 and Holy Family fourth at 6-5. 

About Felician
• Felician has already clinched a spot in the postseason in the CACC North Division. 
• They are currently second at 8-4 in the league and 10-13 overall.
• The Golden Falcons started the year losing their first seven matches before righting the ship. They've gone 10-6 since Sept. 15.
• Felician has won four of five including wins over Bridgeport and Chestnut Hill who are both well above .500.
• On the road in conference games, Felician is 4-3 this season.
• The Golden Falcons are very middle of the pack in most stat categories. They do however rank second in the league in blocks per set at 1.65.
