Georgian Court Volleyball Has Big Match Tomorrow at Holy Family

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 30, 2023) - Georgian Court Volleyball is on the road tomorrow evening hoping for more treats than tricks at Holy Family.

Previously vs. Holy Family
• Holy Family has had a good run of success of late against Georgian Court.
• The Tigers have won six straight against the Lions dating back to 2021.
• All-time GCU is just 21-24 and 10-12 in Philadelphia.
• Earlier this season, the Lions fell in four sets at home to the Tigers.
• All four sets were very tight with two determined by just two points and each team getting a four-point set win as well.
• The biggest difference in the match was on the serve where the Tigers landed 17 aces. Georgian Court hit six aces with eight errors. 
Nylene Mateo totaled 18 kills with 19 digs.
Giorgia Cappelletti was a kill shy of a double-double with 22 digs. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court played their second five-set match in three games, this time coming out on top 3-2.
• The Lions fell behind Felician 2-1 after dropping sets two and three 25-23, but rallied to win set four 25-15 and set five 15-7.
• Only five Lions had kills and all five had at least seven with four in double figures. 
Giorgia Cappelletti and Martina Croce each had kills-digs double-doubles.
Dayna Diaz passed out 52 assists. 

Who's Hot?
• Amiyah Woods is hitting .417 over her last nine matches with 89 kills. 
• Martina Croce has at least eight kills in eight straight matches and double-figure digs in three straight.
Dayna Diaz got the start at setter against Felician and set a career-high with 52 assists. 
• Giorgia Cappelletti has double-figure kills in five straight contests and set a season-high 23 digs against Wilmington.
• Carmen Rivera has 10+ digs in six of her last seven matches. 
• Chelsea Ross set a season-best 11 kills against Felician and has 21 blocks in her last five matches. 
Jessica Sprankle landed a season-high four service aces with 17 digs Saturday afternoon.

• With 42 service aces, Giorgia Cappelletti is sixth in the CACC.
• Nylene Mateo is third in the CACC in kills per set (3.39) and points per set (3.98). 
• Chelsea Ross ranks third with 0.87 blocks per set.

• Chelsea Ross needs four blocks to get to 200 for her career
• Alexa Houston is one kill away from 100 with the Lions. 
• With seven more points Giorgia Cappelletti will reach 300 this season.
• Nylene Mateo needs 48 more kills to get into the GCU all-time top-five.
Jessica Sprankle will move into the all-time top-five at GCU for service aces with seven more.
Amiyah Woods is four blocks away from 150. 

Playoff Picture
• With two weeks and four games left, it's crunch time for the Lions.
• The CACC Volleyball standings are split into two divisions with the top-four teams in each making the postseason.
• The CACC South is tight with four teams vying for the final three places. Jefferson sits atop the division at 10-1.
• Georgian Court is 6-6 and currently in fifth place on the outside looking in.
• Chestnut Hill is second at 8-4, Wilmington third at 8-5 and Holy Family fourth at 7-5. 

About Holy Family
• The Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the CACC having won three straight and after starting 1-2 in league play have gone 6-3.
• The best thing about the Tigers game this season has been their opponent's hitting percentage. They are holding opponents to just .172 on the year.
• On offense, Holy Family is hitting .123 but are up to .174 in CACC games. 
• Shelby Kinzer leads the team with 2.86 kills per set. Ava Kidd isn't far behind at 2.21. She also has a team-high 53 blocks. 
• Maeve Boylan is third in the CACC with 48 service aces. She's also coming up with 3.74 digs per set.
• Holy Family as a team is second in the CACC and ninth nationally landing 2.27 aces per set. 
• Morgan Steck and Kyla Sayson are each averaging more than 3.6 assists per set.
