ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY (Oct. 4, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer was back in action Wednesday evening on Long Island. It was a battle of Lions as Georgian Court challenge the Molloy Lions. It took nearly 70 minutes for either team to score, but Molloy broke though and made the single goal stand up in a 1-0 win. The loss puts Georgian Court at 2-4-4 on the season.
How it Happened
• Molloy's defense was in control of the match. They allowed the Lions to just get one shot off. Molloy totaled 14 themselves, seven in each half.
• Molloy also led in corner kicks 5-0 and fouls were even 5-5 with no cautions or ejections issued.
• The beginning of the match saw the two teams tearing up the middle of the field. There was just one shot, which was blocked, in the first 35 minutes.
• Molloy picked up some momentum late in the half with a pair of shots sandwiching a corner kick with less than 10 minutes to play.
• In the closing minutes, Molloy was able to rip off four consecutive shots, but neither were on target and the half ended 0-0.
• After starting
Morgan Highland in goal in the first half, GCU made a switch to Delanie Wilkinson to start the second.
• Wilkinson was immediately peppered with shots, but again, none were on net.

Abby Kennelly got Georgian Court's first shot in the 58th minute, but she was stopped by Elyse Munoz.
• Nearly 70 minutes into the match, Molloy finally got on the board. A foul gave Molloy a free kick just left outside the box. Sarah Tappeto took the kick and lofted it towards the net. It went off Wilkinson's hands and into the net for a 1-0 Molloy lead.
• Following the goal, the defensive stalemate continued for 20 more minutes until time expired on a 1-0 Molloy win.
