PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Dec. 2, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball went on the road at Holy Family to start the CACC portion of their schedule. The Tigers pulled away in the second quarter on their way to an 80-51 win. GCU is 0-7 this year and 0-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
• Holy Family shot better than 50% for the game and were 9-21 from three.
• GCU was just 21-60 and 6-18 from behind the arc.
• The Lions attempted just five free throws, hitting three. HFU was 7-11 at the stripe.
• The Tigers led in rebounding 42-31.
• Both teams turned the ball over plenty. The Lions lost it 20 times and Holy Family 17.
First Quarter
• Things were tight in the opening quarter and at the 6:54 mark, a
Safiatu Kolliegbo three put the Lions ahead 5-2.

Jada Jacobs buried a three of her own pushing the Lion lead to 10-4.
• Holy Family though responded scoring 12 straight and regained a 16-10 lead.
• They led by five after 10, 18-13.
Second Quarter
• Things got away from the Lions in the second. Holy Family went on a 15-0 run and opened up a 20-point lead, 35-15 with 4:18 to play in the half.
• The Tigers hit a three on their final possession and at intermission led 41-18.
Third Quarter
• The third started the way the second ended with a Tiger three and they were off and running.
• GCU wasn't able to get back into as the Tigers outscored them 24-14 in the period and led 65-32.
Fourth Quarter
• Georgian Court outscored the Tigers 19-15 in the fourth, but it wasn't nearly enough.

Samantha Jones hit a three midway through to cut the lead down to 30 and the Tigers won by 29, 80-51.
Lion Stat Leaders
•
Safiatu Kolliegbo scored 14 points with eight board and two three pointers.
•
Karissa Smedley added eight points and five rebounds and three assists.
• Paula Perez returned and scored seven points.
For the Tigers
• Taylor Hinkle was 7-8 overall and scored 15 points with eight rebounds and five steals.
• Kara Meredith added 12 points going 5-9.
• Claire Dougherty chipped in nine points and six boards.

• The two teams have now traded wins in each of the last seven games.
• All-time GCU is just 8-50 against the Tigers.
