Lions Start Busy Week at Home vs. Goldey-Beacom

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Dec. 28, 2023) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball plays four games in seven days, all at home starting Saturday afternoon with a CACC clash.

Previously vs. Goldey-Beacom
• Last year was the first time ever that Georgian Court defeated Goldey-Beacom. They took them down on the road 70-62.
• The Lightning returned the favor later in the season defeating the Lions 89-66 in Lakewood.
• All-time the Lions are 1-17 against Goldey-Beacom.
• In the most recent matchup, GBC led by just two, 42-40 at halftime. They outscored the Lions by 21 in the second with a 47-26 second half performance.
• Of the Lions 66 points, 41 came off the bench. Cameron Edmonds scored 19 going 3-6 from three and Jelani Jackson added 16. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court got down early to another Northeast-10 school, trailing Southern Connecticut 50-27 at the half.
• GCU tried to make a game of it, and outscored the Owls 47-41 in the second, but still came up short 91-74.
Cameron Edmonds led GCU scoring 17 on 7-14 shooting.
Anthony Rivera was 6-8 for 12 points with four steals.

Who's Hot?
• Taheen Braswell-Brown has scored at least eight points in six straight games averaging more than 11 points per game during that stretch. 
• Cameron Edmonds has scored 10+ in back-to-back games averaging 13.5 points. 
Clint Wright, Jr. was back in double-figures scoring 16. He has at least two three-pointers in seven of nine games.
Anthony Rivera has 10+ points in two of his last three games. 

CACC Leaders
• Clint Wright, Jr. leads the CACC shooting 47.5% from three which is 19th in the nation. 
• Wright, Jr. is also sixth scoring 16.6 points per game. 
Amari Jones' 2.22 offensive rebounds per game are 10th in the league.
Anthony Rivera is just outside the top-10 with 1.57 steals per game. 
• GCU is scoring 11.89 fastbreak points, seventh in transition offense in the conference. 

Individual Milestones
• Clint Wright, Jr. continues his assault on the GCU record books. He needs four three-pointers to get to 200 and three rebounds for 200.  
• Wright, Jr. will also move into a tie for ninth playing his 71st game. 
• Cameron Edmonds is three three-point field goals short of 50 and six points away from 300.
• Hassan Jackson needs five points to hit 150. 

About Goldey-Beacom
• Goldey-Beacom are 1-0 to start the conference season. They defeated Holy Family in their only CACC game of the season.
• GBC is 6-5 thus far on the year. They're a different team on the road though where they are 0-4.
• The team has four in double-figures led by Ayshion Centeno with 15.4 points per game. He's shooting 59% from the floor and 44% from behind the arc.
• Nazim Derry is also scoring 15.3 and Zayon Marsh is at 14.8 points per game. Marsh also has 8.2 rebounds this season.
• As team GBC is shooting 49% which is second in the CACC. They're also second hitting 39.5% from three.
• While Goldey-Beacom is shooting just 66.8% at the line, their 21.6 FTA per game rank third in the CACC.
• On the defensive end, the Lightning are limiting teams to just 43.4% overall and their 27.7 defensive rebounds per game is the second most in the conference.
• Goldey-Beacom is turning the ball over 16.5 times per game, second most in the league.

About Charleston
• Charleston is receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches top-25 poll.
• The Eagles are off to a 7-2 start and 5-1 playing in the Mountain East Conference.
• Charleston finished the first semester with a big win over nationally ranked West Liberty. They followed that though with a loss at Wheeling University before finishing up with a win at home against Bloomsburg.
• The Eagles average better than 85 points per game and have five scoring in double-figures. Eddie Colbert III leads the way with 17.1 points per game shooting 52.7% overall and 41.5% from three.
• Charleston is hitting 39% from behind the arc to lead the MEC. CJ Meredith is shooting 44% and averages 11.1 points per game.
• As a team, Charleston's .600 effective FG% ranks sixth in Division II. 
• Both Colbert III and DeAirius Barker are connecting at nearly 92% from the free throw line, 11th in the country. The team's 78.3% ranks 17th.
