Lions Tripped Up by No. 16 Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2023) - Playing in the City of Brotherly Love, the Jefferson Rams showed there was no love lost between the Rams and Georgian Court Lions. Georgian Court never held a lead as their two-game winning streak came to a halt at the hands of No. 16 Jefferson. The Lions fell to the Rams () and are now 7-8 in the CACC, 7-12 overall with two regular season games remaining.

How it Happened
• Both teams shot the ball equally well. The Lions were 24-55 for 44% while Jefferson shot 45% on 34-76.
• The Rams did their work around the rim. They outscored GCU 52-24 in points in the paint. They also held a 52-26 advantage rebounding the ball with 31 offensive rebounds.
• Georgian Court connected on four more three-pointers than Jefferson, but were 6-23 overall from behind the arc. At the foul line, Jefferson was 12-20 while GCU managed just four attempts, hitting three.
• Jefferson scored the first six points in the game. Georgian Court got on the board when Tian Addison splashed a three a little over two minutes into the game.
• The Lions used a 7-1 run to tie the game at seven following a Savawn Hughes layup. But Jefferson scored the next five and never trailed again.
• Late in the first, Georgian Court turned the ball over on three consecutive possessions. That allowed the Rams to push their lead to 10, 25-15 after one. The Lions were 7-14 from the floor in the opening quarter, but Jefferson shot 10-19 and forced six GCU turnovers.
• Another Addison three and a layup from Andjela Kremenovic got the Lions back to within seven, 27-20, but the offense fell cold after that. Jefferson used a 14-0 stretch, keeping the Lions scoreless for 5:40 as they extended their lead to 41-20.
• Leah Snisky hit a jumper in the closing seconds, but the Rams came back down the court and despite a Precious Adediran block, still had enough time to collect the offensive rebound and putback a layup to go in to the half up 45-27.
• Jefferson once again pushed their lead to 20 early in the third quarter. Georgian Court put up 17 points in the frame, but Jefferson matched them as they were content trading baskets with a large lead.
• The fourth quarter was much of the same as the Rams protected their lead. They did their best to let the clock run down and came away with an 82-57 win.

It Was Over When...
• Georgian Court knew they were going to need to dig into the Ram lead to start the second half to have any chance of a comeback. While the Lion offense played well, Jefferson kept pace and didn't allow their lead to dip below 20 entering the fourth quarter.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Tian Addison scored a game-high 20 points going 4-9 from three with five assists.
• Savawn Hughes added eight points with four rebounds and four assists.
• Andjela Kremenovic shot 4-7 from the floor for eight points as well.
• Precoius Adediran connected on a pair of three-pointers and scored six points.

News and Notes
• Tian Addison surpassed 750 career points.
• Addison's 20 points are also a new season-high. Her four three-pointers match the most by a Lion in a game this season.
• Precious Adediran scored her 100th career point.
• Andjela Kremenovic pulled down career rebound number 100.
• Ten different Lions scored at least two points.
• Georgian Court has now dropped three straight to Jefferson.
• It's just the second time all season Georgian Court has allowed 80 points. It's also the second time an opponent has secured 50+ rebounds. The 31 offensive boards are the most GCU has allowed all season.
• Goldey-Beacom, who Georgian Court is tied with for fourth place in the CACC South, was idle tonight. Both teams will be in action Saturday. The Lions finish the last week of the season with one final game while the Lightning play twice.

Up Next
