LAKEWOOD, NJ. (Feb. 18, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball sent their seniors out in style Saturday afternoon. Playing their final home game of the 2022-23 season, Georgian Court Women's Basketball honored their six-member 2023 senior class with a 58-43 win over Wilmington.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court had a dominating second-half performance as they outscored the Wildcats by 14.
• For the game, GCU shot 39% overall and 4-14 from three. Wilmington connected at a 35% rate and were 2-10 from downtown.
• Turnovers played a big factor in the win. GCU forced 22 Wilmington turnovers and turned those into 21 points, 19 in transition. The Lions did a good job holding on to the ball committing just 13 turnovers.
• Neither team got out to a strong start. The Lions were 4-16 in the first quarter while Wilmington was just 3-13 and scored seven points.
• Georgian Court started to put some distance on the Wildcats as

Jariah Patterson scored three the hard way and with 3:08 to play in the half, Georgian Court was up eight, 21-13. That was the last time GCU scored in the half though as Wilmington scored the last seven, including a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the lead to one, 21-20 at the half.
• Coming out of intermission, it was all Georgian Court. They scored the first nine points of the third, with
Tian Addison pouring in five of the nine.
• Wilmington didn't go away and following a Fatou Ndao jumper at the 4:46 mark of the third, it was just a three-point game, 32-29.
• There was no sense of panic from the Lions.
Savawn Hughes made back-to-back buckets in transition to push the lead back to seven. Barker then again in transition off an Addison steal and suddenly the Lions led by nine, 40-31. They closed the third on a 10-4 spurt going 4-6 overall and forced two turnovers.
• Georgian Court's defense again stepped up to start the fourth. They held the Wildcats scoreless for almost three-and-a-half minutes as the lead grew to 10 for the first time.

Paula Perez-Fabregas suck three-pointers within 90 seconds of each other and suddenly the rout was on. Georgian Court won going away, 58-43.
It Was Over When...
• An 8-0 run midway through the fourth sealed the win for the Lions.

A'nyah Barker added a layup as GCU built a 17 point lead with just 4:47 to play.

A'nyah Barker led the team with 12 points going 6-10 overall with four steals, two rebounds and two assists.

Jariah Patterson scored 11 with five boards.

Savawn Hughes finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

For the Wildcats
• Fatou Ndao scored a game-high 16 points on 7-10 shooting and came down with seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
• Jade Roberts added nine points with five boards. She was 5-6 at the foul line.
• Daja Claiborne added six points with four boards.

• Prior to the game, Georgian Court celebrated their six seniors:

• All five Lion seniors who suited up scored at least two points.

Savawn Hughes eclipsed 1500 career minutes played.

Jariah Patterson grabbed her 100th career rebound.
• For the first time in her career,
Tian Addison blocked three shots in a game.
• Six different Lions recorded at least two assists and eight Lions had at least one.
• With the win, Georgian Court is in sole possession of fourth place in the CACC South.

• Georgian Court will finish the regular season next Saturday, Feb. 25 at Chestnut Hill. They may find out their playoff fate before then though. Goldey-Beacom, one-half game behind in the standings, plays Wednesday, Feb. 22 at Jefferson. A loss will put the Lions into the CACC Tournament.
