LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Feb. 4, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball never led in their game Saturday afternoon with Dominican. The Chargers took an early lead and held on 63-56 as GCU falls to 7-11 overall and 5-7 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Neither team was on top of their game shooting the ball. The Lions hit just 33% overall and the Chargers 30%. Each team shot 5-16 from behind the arc.
• Where Dominican did their damage was at the free throw line. The Chargers made 18-20, 10-12 in the fourth quarter to protect their lead. The Lions were 11-14 at the stripe.
• Turnovers again played a factor for GCU. They lost the handle 20 times and the Chargers took advantage scoring 14 points off turnovers. Dominican committed just 12 turnovers.
• Despite being out-rebounded 49-42 overall, Dominican was down just one, 15-14 in offensive rebounds and outscored GCU, 13-12 in second-chance points.
• Dominican opened the game on a 7-2 run and pushed their lead to as much as nine in the opening quarter.
Tian Addison hit a three with under a minute to play in the frame as the Lions trailed 17-11 after one.
• Georgian Court battled back getting a three as the shot clock was expiring from
A'nyah Barker to make it a three-point game, 25-22 midway through the second. That was the difference as the team's headed to the locker room, GCU down three, 30-27.
• The third quarter is where Dominican extended their lead hitting three three-pointers. Angelina DiMarsico hit two midway through the frame as the Chargers took their first double-digit lead, 43-33 with 4:09 left to play in the period.
• Still trailing by 10, GCU got baskets from Barker and Addison to cut the lead to six, 47-41 entering the fourth.Â
• Dominican went inside to their 6-2 center Chidinma Ndukauba in the fourth. She made back-to-back layups to start the quarter, giving Dominican their 10-point lead back.Â
• GCU was scoreless for the first 5:08 of the frame as Dominican pushed their lead to a game-high 14, 55-41.Â
• The Lions were still down 10 with a minute left in the game, but baskets from
A'nya Harper,
Savawn Hughes and Barker brought it down to five, 61-56 with 19 seconds left. Needing to foul, the Lions sent the Chargers to the line where Olivia Levy hit one-of-two. GCU could've convert following the free throw and Dominican was able run out the clock.
It Was Over When...
• There was a glimmer of hope left for the Lions after Barker's steal and score with 19 seconds left. It was still a two-possession game, but GCU was unable to put anymore points on the board the rest of the way with Dominican walking out 63-56 winners.

Tian Addison scored a game-high 17 points going 7-14 from the floor and 2-5 from three. She also grabbed four rebounds and passed out three assists.

Savawn Hughes was also in double-figures scoring 10. She was a rebound shy of a double-double.
• Three Lions scored nine points:
Jariah Patterson,
A'nyah Barker and
A'nya Harper. Barker also had seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
For the Chargers
• Alexis Suarez led Dominican with 15 points.
• Cayla Howard finished with 14.
• Kristen Teklits grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
