Ventresca Tallies 100th Point in Lions Loss

PLEASANTVILLE, NY (March 18, 2023) - Georgian Court got down early and was unable to come back on No. 11 Pace in their 16-5 loss. The loss drops GCU to 3-5 on the year.

How it Happened
• On the offensive end Pace totaled 52 shots with 30 reaching the net. Georgian Court got off 28 shots, 15 of which were on target.
• The Lions were just 16-25 on clear attempts and turned the ball over 21 times. Pace lost the ball 13 times and were 21-22 on clears.
• GCU did not take a penalty and were 1-4 on their extra-man opportunities.
• Pace held a big edge in the face-off circle winning 17-of-25. 
• It took 90 seconds for Pace to get the scoring started. They jumped out to a big lead, scoring seven unanswered to lead 7-0 after 15 minutes.
• Georgian Court got on the board with a man-up goal from Daniel Burnham and a Tallen Smith unassisted goal to make it a 7-2 game.
• GCU allowed just one goal in the second period, but trailed by six at the half, 8-2.
• Pace scored four goals in both the third and fourth quarters, including another stretch of seven straight.
• Michael Ventresca scored his 100th point with a goal at 7:55 of the the third period.
• Vincent Giunta scored back-to-back goals to finish the game in the final five minutes.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Vincent Giunta's two goals led GCU. He grabbed a team-best four grounders as well.
• Tallen Smith totaled two points with a goal and an assist.
• Michael Ventresca and Daniel Burnham each added a goal.
• Garrett Kenny took most of the Lions face-offs going 5-15 in the circle with three ground balls.
• Jordan Frank caused a turnovers and picked up three ground balls.
• Vincent Burkhart made 14 saves in goal.

For the Setters
• Ryan Brown scored four goals with an assist.
• Daniel Zabbia scored four goals as well, all in the first period.
• Timmy Morrow nabbed three helpers.
• Louis Ragusa made nine saves.
• Maxwell Streety was 15-19 on face-offs with 13 ground balls. 

News and Notes
• With his goal, Michael Ventresca becomes just the fourth Lion to ever score 100 career points. 
• Of the Lions five losses, four have come to teams ranked in the top-16.
• Georgian Court has scored a man-up goal in five straight games.
• This is the second game this season the Lions didn't take a penalty.
