PHILADELPHIA (March 22, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse found themselves in a battle with Holy Family early in the third quarter. That's when the Lions took over though, putting the game away scoring the final eight goals on their way to a 17-6 win over the Tigers. The win is GCU's second straight and puts them at 3-5 on the season and 2-0 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court contolled possession with 35 shots to the Tigers 21.Â
• Holy Family went just 1-for-7 on free position attempts while GCU was 3-for-9.
• Off the draw, Holy Family won 19 to the Lions eight.
• The Lions lost the ball just 15 times while forcing the Tigers into 25 turnovers.
• Georgian Court picked up 27 ground balls to the Tigers 16.Â
• Holy Family wasted no time getting on the board early just 34 seconds into the game.
• The goal seemed to be a wake-up call for Georgian Court. They scored the next four getting two goals apiece from
Jade Rivera and
Riley O'Connor.
• The Lions made it a 5-1 lead as O'Connor scored her third goal of the game just 1:38 into the second quarter.
• But the Tigers didn't give up. They brought the lead down to three, 6-3, at halftime.
• Coming out of the break, HFU scored two more to make it a one-goal game, 6-5, with 13:39 left to play in the third. The Tigers scored just 16 seconds apart.
• That's as close as the Tigers got though. O'Connor,
Alyssa Wahl and
Isabel Raimondi each scored to give the Lions some breathing room at 9-5.
• After the Tigers got one back, GCU scored the final eight goals to put the game away. Raimondi and Wahl tallied two more goals while Rivera also scored another to complete her hat trick.

Jade Rivera totaled a hat trick scoring three goals. She also scooped four ground balls.
