WILSON, NC (March 4, 2023) - Georgian Court Softball played their third doubleheader in four days in the Carolinas. After dropping game one, the Lions scored early to salvage a split with Barton. The win moves GCU to 9-7 on the season.
Game 2 - Georgian Court 5, Barton 2Â
How it Happened
• Georgian Court hopped out to a 5-0 lead in game two.
• They finished with eight hits, four going for extra bases. The Bulldogs managed just four hits off of
Maddie Rabe and two runs.
• Neither team committed an error in the field.
• On the bases, GCU was 3-4, and left seven runners on. Barton left four runners on base.
• The duo of
Taylor Lipkins and
Adriana Mungo were at it again getting the scoring started in the first. Lipkins led off with a single and stolen base. Mungo doubled to left to drive her in. Mungo came around to score one batter later when
Savannah Simons went opposite field for a single.
• Leading off the second,
Brittany Gable homered to make it a 3-0 game. Later in the inning it was Lipkins and Mungo again. Lipkins walked, stole second and Mungo drove her home again with a single to right center.
• With Rabe cruising through three, Mungo picked up her third RBI in four innings. She drove in
Jadalynn Rodriguez who singled and stole second for a 5-0 led.
• The Bulldogs finally broke through in the fourth. They put the first three on with a walk, double and a two-RBI single to get to within 5-2.
• Rabe settled down to retire the next three in the fourth and allowed just one baserunner the rest of the way for a 5-2 win.

Game 1 - Barton 6, Georgian Court 3
How it Happened
• Georgian Court scored three runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead, but it didn't last with the Bulldogs getting four in the fifth.
• Barton finished with 12 hits while GCU could muster only four.
• The Lions made two errors in the field, but they did not lead to any runs.
• Back-to-back doubles in the first scored the Bulldogs first two runs.
• Georgian Court's first hit came in the third. With two outs,
Jadalynn Rodriguez chopped an infield single and stole second.
Taylor Lipkins doubled to center for one run and
Adriana Mungo went deep for a two-run shot, giving GCU a 3-2 lead.
• That's how the score remained until the fifth when Barton put the first seven runners on base. Three straight doubles gave the Bulldogs the lead back. They capped it with an RBI single for a 6-3 lead.
• The Lions loaded the bases with nobody in the seventh with a single and a pair of walks.
Jayda Jones looked to drive in a run with a sacrifice fly, but Trinty Moreno was thrown out at the plate for a double play. Rodriguez struck out to end the game, 6-3.
