ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY (March 8, 2023) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse dropped a tightly contested game Tuesday afternoon at Molloy. Neither team held more than a three-goal lead at any time with Molloy going on to win 11-9. The loss puts GCU at 2-4 this season.
How it Happened
• Shots were even with Molloy firing 41 and Georgian Court 40. Molloy led with shots on target 30-26.
• Georgian Court was nearly perfect with the man-advantage. They were 4-of-5 while Molloy was 2-of-6.
• GCU won 16-of-23 face-offs. They also turned the ball over 16 times to Molloy's 13.
• On the ground, Molloy won 28 contested ground balls and Georgian Court 21.

Brett Bridges picked up where he left off last week. He got the scoring started with a man-up goal at the 9:06 mark of the first quarter. From there though, Molloy closed the frame scoring four straight to lead 4-1 after one.
• Georgian Court responded with a 4-1 second period. Bridges added his second man-up goal of the afternoon.
Vincent Giunta scored twice and
Joe Zerr added another man-up goal. GCU trailed 5-2, but scored three goals in the final 1:04 to tie the game at the half.
• Twice in the third period
Daniel Burnham gave the Lions the lead. With GCU leading 7-6, Molloy scored two man-up goals to reclaim an 8-7 lead. They added another before Zerr capitalized for his second man-up goal of the game, bringing the lead down to 9-8 going to the final frame.
• The Molloy defense kept GCU scoreless for nearly the entire period.
Tallen Smith scored with 1:07 left to play, but Molloy had built a three-goal lead by that point, and held on 11-9.

• Both
Michael Ventresca and
Daniel Burnham surpassed the Georgian Court all-time record for career shots. Ventresca is the current lead with 303 while Burnham is one back with 302.
• Burnham also set single-game highs this season with seven points and five goals.

Joe Zerr moved to eighth all-time scoring his seventh career man-up goal.
• In all four games
Vincent Burkhart has played a full 60 minutes, he's made at least 15 saves.
• The 12 total penalties taken are the most in a game this season.
