LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 1, 2023) - Georgian Court Lacrosse started off CACC play in grand fashion. They welcomed Post University and thanks to a dominant second-half, came out with a 21-11 win to start out 1-0 and even up their record at 5-5 overall.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was awesome on face-offs. They won 29-of-36 allowing them to set up the offense.
• Those extra possessions led to a 57-25 advantage in shots and 40-18 shots on goal.
• Each team committed their share of turnovers with Post losing it 22 times and Georgian Court 18.
• The Eagles were 20-24 on clear attempts while GCU was 25-27. Georgian Court also picked up more ground balls, 57-25.
• Post continually gave GCU man-up advantages as they took 10 penalties. GCU capitalized going 5-10 on the power play. The Eagles converted on just one of their four extra-man opportunities and scored once shorthanded.
First Half
• Scoring was limited in the first quarter.
Vincent Giunta got things started with a goal from
Brett Bridges at the 13:12 mark, but then GCU went more than 10 minutes without a goal.
• After Post tied the game at one,
Tallen Smith retook the lead for GCU 2-1, which is where things stood after 15 minutes.
• Tied again at two, the Lions separated a bit scoring three straight with another goal from Smith and goals from Bridges and
Vincent Burns as well.
• Braedan Lockyer scored back-to-back to make it a one-goal game again, 5-4.
• A loose ball in front of the GCU net went the way of Post and Robbie McGrayne was there to pick up the grounder and cash in, making in a one-score game again, 6-5, with two minutes left to play.
• With under a minute to play in the half,
Daniel Burnham just beat the shot clock and beat the goalie as well putting the Lions up 7-5. The Lions won another face off and
Vincent Giunta popped another with 11 seconds left as GCU took an 8-5 lead into the half.
Second Half
• Georgian Court continued where they left off in the first half, but not before Post scored 73 seconds into the third.
• Then the Lions took over, first getting goal number 90 from
Michael Ventresca to set the GCU record.

• That started a stretch of five straight goals in 3:33, including two more from Ventresca and a pair from
Joe Zerr, one on the man-advantage.
• The Eagles put in another, but Georgian Court rattled off another three straight to close the third leading by nine, 16-7.
• A man-up goal from
Daniel Burnham put the Lions up 10, 17-7, just 45 seconds into the fourth.
• Post tried to rally, scoring three straight, but it was too little, too late. Two more man-up goals from Zerr and
Vincent Burns and tallies from Burnham and
