Dominican Hands Georgian Court First CACC Loss Since 2016

HILLBURN, NY (April 1, 2023) - All streaks come to an end sometime. Just days after celebrating their 50th straight CACC win, Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse will have to start over again. That's because the Lions fell at Dominican Saturday night, 17-10. 

In a battle of the final two unbeaten teams in CACC play, the Chargers came out on top to drop the Lions to 4-1 in conference and 5-6 overall.

How it Happened
• Dominican controlled play totaling 47 shots to the Lions 26. 
• The Chargers won 21-of-31 draw controls and got to 22-of-34 ground balls.
• Turnover numbers were even with the Lions losing the ball 17 times and Dominican 15.
• On free-position shots, Georgian Court was 6-10 while Dominican converted 4-of-15.

First Half
• Dominican got off to a lightning fast start. They scored just 91 seconds in and at the nine minute mark of the first quarter held a 3-0 lead.
• Georgian Court got a goal back thanks to Remi Reinhardt, but Dominican finished the frame scoring four more to lead 7-1 after 15 minutes.
• The Lions mounted a bit of a comeback in the second. They were 5-5 on free position shots, which is how they scored all five goals in the period.
Alyssa Wahl was responsible for the first two and the last one. Isabel Raimondi and Jade Rivera got in on the action as well. They cut the lead in half, down from six to three, 9-6, at the half.

Second Half
• Dominican didn't let the Lions continue their momentum into the second half. They scored the first three in the period to go up 12-6.
• Georgian Court was unable to get the lead below five the rest of the way as the Chargers put an end to the Lions streak, 17-10.

Lion Stat Leaders
Alyssa Wahl scored half of the Lions goals scoring five with an assist.
Jade Rivera and Isabel Raimondi each had a goal and an assist.
Remi Reinhardt scored and won four draw controls.
Alexis Hahn stopped half of Dominican's shots making 17 saves on 34 shots.

For the Chargers
• Jordana Tomasetti scored a game-high nine goals with three draw control wins.
• Sydney Strohmayer added three goals and scooped four ground balls with three caused turnovers.
• Eric Ortiz won 16 draw controls and added a goal.
• Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made 13 saves.

News and Notes
• The Lions streak comes to an end after 2,541 days without a CACC loss.
• The game was a rematch of last season's CACC Championship game won by Georgian Court, 17-16.
Alexis Hahn made her 350th career save at Georgian Court.
Riley O'Connor played in her 50th career game. Her goal with 60 seconds left keep up her scoring streak of 11 straight to start the season.
Remi Reinhardt surpassed 125 career draw controls.
