Lions Sweep Conference Leaders Caldwell

CALDWELL, NJ (April 25, 2023) - Georgian Court Softball went to Caldwell and did something no other team has done this season. The Cougars hadn't been beaten at home all season but the Lions weren't intimidated. They took it to the Cougars sweeping both games 7-0 and 10-7. With the wins GCU is now 32-16 and 16-6 in the CACC.

Game 1 - Georgian Court 7, Caldwell 0
How it Happened

• The Lions knocked 10 hits, nine singles and stole two bases.
• Caldwell picked up six hits, no runs with two doubles and four singles. They left nine on base.
• Georgian Court was able to take advantage of four Cougar errors as five of the seven runs were unearned.
• After two scoreless innings, Georgian Court got on the board with a big third inning. Taylor Lipkins led off and her single got behind the centerfielder allowing her to scamper all the way to third.
• Two batters later, Lipkins crossed the plate on Kaitlyn Stufft's RBI ground ball.
• The inning continued as Brittany Gable scored Stufft with a sacrifice fly. With two outs and two on, Jordan Mendolla delivered the biggest hit of the inning, a single to drive in both runs and put the Lions up 4-0.

• Caldwell had a scoring threat brewing in the home half of the inning. They put two on with two out. A long drive to center looked ticketed to get to the wall, but Lipkins made a highlight reel, diving catch with her back towards home plate to end the inning and keep the Cougars scoreless.
