WILMINGTON, DE (April 29, 2023) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse trailed by as much as eight, late in the third period. With a furious rally late in the game, the Lions got to within one, but the clock ran out on the comeback bid as Wilmington upended GCU 16-15. The loss means the Lions finish the regular season at 9-8 overall and 8-2 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court held possession more thanks to winning 21-of-35 draw controls.
• GCU totaled 37 shots, 31 on net while Wilmington got off 29 with 25 on target.
• Early on, the difference in the game was that Wilmington's shots were finding the net. The Wildcats finished the game with 16 saves. Georgian Court made nine.
• Turnover numbers were even with the Lions losing it 16 times and the Wildcats 15.
• Neither team did well on free-position shots. Wilmington connected on 2-of-7 while Georgian Court was 2-of-10.Â
First Half
• The two teams traded goals and midway through the opening quarter, the game was tied at three.
Isabel Raimondi had all three Lion goals to that point.
• In the final 5:14 of the opening frame Wilmington took over and scored four straight, including a goal with 34 seconds left to play.Â

Remi Reinhardt and
Alyssa Wahl sandwiched another Wildcat goal as GCU to to within three with 6:42 remaining in the half.
• Wilmington held the Lions scoreless the rest of the half though and added two more goals to take a 10-5 lead into the break.
Second Half
• Wilmington opening the half scoring four of the first five goals and with 2:42 left in the third took their largest lead, 14-6.
• Georgian Court scratched out two goals before the end of the period, each coming from Raimondi and the final one with just one second remaining on the clock.
• The Lions kept up the momentum into the fourth.
Kelsey Naclerio scored in the first minute and goals from Reinhardt, Wahl and Raimondi brought the lead down to three, 15-12 with 10:28 left to play.
• Neither team scored for the next 7:18 and time was running out on the Lions comeback. Wilmington tacked on another and with 3:10 left led by four, 16-12.
• Reinhardt though wasn't finished. She scored once at the 1:21 mark, won the draw control, then scored again 20 seconds later. A simultaneous foul gave the Lions possession and 10 second later, Reinhardt finished again, making it a one-goal game, 16-15 with 0:51 left to play. She scored three goals in 30 seconds.
• Following a Wilmington timeout, Reinhardt won the important draw control and drove into the offensive zone, but a turnover gave the ball back to Wilmington who ran out the final 20 seconds of the clock to survive. Â

Alyssa Wahl scored her 150th career point. She's the 11th Lion to ever do that. Her two assists also put her into the GCU all-time top-five.

Remi Reinhardt became the eighth Lion to win 150 draw controls and is now in the top-five all-time at GCU.

Isabel Raimondi's six goals match a career-best.Â
• The loss means the Lions are the number four seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament due to the three-way tie with Wilmington and Jefferson.
• This is Wilmington's first ever win over Georgian Court. The Lions had previously been 20-0 against the Wildcats.Â
