Volleyball Gets Back into Conference Play Thursday at Jefferson

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 20, 2023) - Georgian Court Volleyball marches on this week with CACC play starting on the road in Philadelphia.

Previously vs. Jefferson
• Georgian Court dropped both matches to Jefferson last season, losing 3-1 at home and 3-0 on the road.
• Jefferson has won each of the previous three matches after a five-match GCU winning streak. 
• All-time against the Rams, Georgian Court is 20-19 and 7-10 on the road.
• The Lions hit below .120 in both matches last year while Jefferson was over .200.
• In the match at home, Nylene Mateo led GCU with 22 kills. She had 17 of the team's 31 kills in the loss on the road.

• Georgian Court took the opening set from Pace 25-23, but the Setters claimed the next three for a 3-1 match win in Pleasantville.

• Jessica Sprankle had a match-high 18 digs with three aces.
• Amiyah Woods hit .438 with eight kills.

Giorgia Cappelletti has three straight kills-digs double-doubles and four this season. 
• Iciar Zayas is averaging 10.3 assists per set in her last three matches. 
• Jessica Sprankle matched a season-best with 18 digs against Pace. She has 45 in her last three matches.
• Amiyah Woods is hitting .383 in her last seven matches with just five attack errors over that span. 
Nylene Mateo has four straight double-figure kill matches.

• With 25 service aces, Giorgia Cappelletti leads the league. She's also fourth in points per set with 3.65 and ninth hitting .230. 
• At 9.07 assists per set, Iciar Zayas is second in league and one of just two to be averaging more than nine assists per set.
• Nylene Mateo is third in the CACC in kills per set and points per set. 
• Chelsea Ross ranks seventh with 0.81 blocks per set.
• Amiyah Woods' .292 attack percentage sits fifth in the league. 
• Georgian Court is leading the league this season thus far hitting .200 and are second in opponent hitting percentage as opponents are hitting .150.

About Jefferson
• Jefferson is the two-time defending CACC Tournament Champions. In the tournament finals last year, they swept the semifinals and finals after a tight five-set win in the quarterfinal round.
• The Rams were picked to finish first in the CACC South Division in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
• Jefferson has won just four of their first 10 matches to start the season. They dropped their first four matches all in five sets.
• The Rams kicked off CACC play last week with a 3-0 win over Holy Family.
• Thursday's match will serve as the Rams home opener.
• After losing CACC Player of the Year, Jefferson has filled Jess Molen's shoes with junior Morgan Ritchie. Ritchie is in the top-10 nationally in kills per set and is 11th in points per set with a CACC leading 5.06.
