PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2023) - Georgian Court was back in CACC action Thursday against the two-time reigning CACC champions Jefferson. The Lions were able to get a set, but ultimately fell 3-1. The loss puts GCU at 6-5 on the season 1-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
Set 1
• Jefferson hit .270 for the match while the Lions were at .108. Â
• The Rams landed 12 service aces to the Lions two. Each team hit their share of errors with the Rams hitting eight and the Lions seven.
• Jefferson also led in total blocks seven to three.
• Digs numbers were nearly even with the Rams leading 48-47.
• Jefferson started the first set scoring eight of the first 10 points.
• The Lions never were able to get back into the frame as the Rams took the opener 25-14.
• The Rams landed 14 kills and hit .414 in the set while GCU hit just .103.
Set 2
• A Ram attack error broke a 3-3 tie to give the Lions the lead.Â
• They took a five-point lead, 14-9, helped out by a number of Ram errors.
• Jefferson rallied back scoring nine straight and led by two, 16-14.
• Tied at 17, GCU scored four straight with two kills and a
Kylie Runyon service ace.
• Jefferson answered back and a Ram service ace tied things back up at 23.

Nylene Mateo gave GCU the lead and a Ram attack error tied the match at one.
Set 3
• With the pivotal third set tied at five, Jefferson scored four straight to take a 9-5 lead and never looked back.
• The Rams finished the set on a 10-2 run and won 25-13.
• Jefferson hit .333 for the frame.
Set 4
• The Rams continued that momentum into set four scoring nine of the first 10 points.
• The teams traded points the rest of the way, but GCU was never able to cut deep into the lead.
• Jefferson finished the match scoring the final five points, winning 25-10.
