Lions Gear Up For Pivitol CACC South Battle With Wilmington

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 16, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball welcomes one of the leaders of the CACC South Division to the Wellness Center.

Previously vs. Wilmington
• This will mark the 19th all-time meeting between these two teams. Since 2013, Georgian Court is 5-13 against the Wildcats.
• The Lions have fared better against the Wildcats of late winning three of the last five.
• That included a split last season with the road team winning each game.
• The game in Wilmington was a classic with the Lions scoring 53 second-half points in the 93-86 win, one of the best games of the season for GCU.
• Georgian Court shot 54% from three and Cameron Edmonds was 4-4.
• In the final home game of the season last year, GCU led by nine at the half, but couldn't hold in in an 88-83 Wildcat win. The Lions led by as many as 19 in the second half before the Wildcats made their comeback.
Jamaal Waters had a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Clint Wright, Jr. scored 18 hitting 4-8 from three. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court gave up 10 three-pointers, six to Javel Cherry as Dominican defeated the Lions 87-70 Sunday afternoon.
• GCU trailed by seven at the break, and cut it to five early in the second half, but the Chargers continued to hit from three and went on for the double-digit win.
Cameron Edmonds led four GCU scorers in double-figures with 16 points.
Taheen Braswell-Brown finished with 11 and six boards. 

Who's Hot?
• Clint Wright, Jr. is shooting 47% from three in his last three games and has 10+ points in all three.
• Cameron Edmonds is averaging 17 points per game in his last four contests. He also has nine rebounds in his last two. 
• Justin Harper has double-figure points in four of his last six games.
Taheen Braswell-Brown is 9-19 his last two games for 19 points. 
Hassan Jackson set career-bests with six rebounds and four assists at Dominican. 

CACC Leaders
• Clint Wright, Jr. leads the CACC shooting 45.5% from three.
• Wright, Jr. is also eighth scoring 15.4 points per game. 
• In CACC-only games, Justin Harper is shooting 62.1% which is sixth in the league. 
• At the free throw line, Georgian Court is up to 69.1%, good for fifth in the CACC. 
• GCU is shooting 44.6% overall which is seventh in the conference. 

Individual Milestones
• Clint Wright, Jr. continues his assault on the GCU record books. His next game played will move him into a tie for seventh all-time.
• Wright, Jr. is also six field goals away from third place at GCU. 
Cameron Edmonds needs to free throws to get to 100 for his career. That will move him into a tie for 10th all-time in Lions history.
Justin Harper needs eight rebounds to get to 50.

About Wilmington
• Wilmington is 10-6 overall this season and second in the CACC South Division with a 4-1 record.
• The Wildcats are as hot as they've been all season winning four of their last five games.
• On the road the Wildcats are 5-5 this season compared to 5-1 when playing at home.
• Wilmington boasts one of the best defenses in the conference. Teams are scoring just 74.6 points against WU this season, third in the league.
• The Wildcats are holding opponents to a 28.7 three-point percentage which leads the league and is eighth-best in all of Division II. Their 41% field-goal percentage defense also leads the CACC.
• Offensively, the Wildcats have one of the best passers in Caleb Matthews who's 62 assists are second in the league.
• Nalik Veasley is also second in the CACC with 133 rebounds, just one behind the league leader.
• Wilmington has four scoring in double-figures led by Taalib Holloman and his 14 points per game. Amiri Stewart is scoring 13.7 points and is shooting 46% from downtown.
• The Wildcats have also done a good job not beating themselves. They lead the league in fewest turnovers at 12.9 per game.
