WATERBURY, Conn. (Jan. 27, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball was done in Saturday afternoon by a bad start to the second half. The Lions trailed by just four at the break, but Post was able to extend early in the second of their 79-63 win.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court finished the game shooting 49% overall while Post hit 43%.
• Neither team shot the ball well from three with GCU going 4-13 and the Eagles 6-26.
• The big difference came at the foul line. Georgian Court was just 5-7 while Post went 19-21.
• Post also won the rebounding effort, 38-29.
• Georgian Court turned the ball over 20 times and Post 14.
First Half
• Post got off to a quick start, taking a 10-3 lead three minutes in.
• Georgian Court battled back and a three from
Clint Wright, Jr. midway through put the Lions up 15-14.

Amari Jones made a layup to keep the Lions up 19-18.
• The Eagles answered with a three for reclaim a 21-19 lead and led for the rest of the half.
• On the Lions last possession of the first,
Taheen Braswell-Brown made a layup to cut the lead to within two.
• Quest Harris for the Eagles hit a layup of his own to beat the buzzer and bring the lead to four, 35-31.
Second Half
• Post took over in the second half though. They outscored Georgian Court 21-2 in the first five minutes to go up by 23, 56-33.
• The Lions woke up a bit after that, but were never able to get the lead into single-digits.
• Georgian Court outscored Post 30-23 the final 15 minutes, but the damage had been done in a 79-63 loss.

Clint Wright, Jr. led GCU scoring 22 on 8-15 shooting with four rebounds.

Taheen Braswell-Brown finished with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Anthony Rivera scored 13 on 6-9 shooting.

For the Eagles
• Deng Deang scored a game-high 23 points with nine rebounds.
• Robert Sanders scored 12 points.
• Derrick Thomas II added 11 going 6-7 at the foul line.
