Georgian Court Mourns the Loss of Ingrid Rivera-Zuniga

It is with deep, heartfelt sorrow that Georgian Court University announces the passing of one of our student-athletes. Track and Field senior Ingrid Rivera-Zuniga passed away last week following complications from a medical procedure.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ingrid's family and friends during this sad and difficult time. Ingrid was a bright light in the GCU community, both in the classroom and as a member of the Track and Field program. She was a member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma (the student-athlete national honor society), and she was a CACC All-Academic performer.

Ingrid was truly one of a kind, and is remembered as someone who possessed a huge heart, a tenacity to succeed, and for being a great friend, teammate and classmate. She will be greatly missed.

"We are so saddened by the sudden passing of Ingrid Rivera Zuniga," said head track and field coach Mike Murawski. "To say she was one of a kind is an understatement. She may have been short in stature but what she lacked in height she made up with a huge heart, a tenacity to be great in everything she did, and a willingness to be a great friend, teammate, and classmate. We are so blessed that she was in our life even for a brief moment. Those moments will stay with us and her smile and laugh will be engrained in our memories forever."

Georgian Court is committed to providing support to our students, faculty, and staff affected by this tragic loss. Students are encouraged to reach out to the GCU Counseling Center at 732-987-2680, or access mental health support services through UWill at https://app.uwill.com/

Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Reliance, call 855-775-4357, or visit the member website: http://rsli.acieap.com/.
