EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer continues to roll as they finished up a five-game road trip with their fourth straight win. The Lions got goals in each half of a 2-0 shutout win over East Stroudsburg and even up their record at 4-4-1.
How it Happened
• The Lions made the most of their infrequent opportunities. The Warriors peppered the net with shots 17 of them to the Lions five.
• Of those 17 shots though, just five were on target while GCU put three on goal and scored twice.
• Georgian Court survived 10 Warrior corner kicks and took just three themselves.
• Cards were mostly kept in the pocket of the official, just three all game, two on GCU.
• Each team was whistled for 10 common fouls.
• Once again it didn't take long for the Lions to get on the board.
Jack Pollintine-Smith scored in the 12th minute for an early 1-0 lead.
• Looking to double-up, Gijs van Eif's show in the 25th minute was stopped by Helgi Hermannsson.
• The Warriors finished the half with three shots in the final 13 minutes, but only one was on net and
Ayendi Batista kept it out of the net.
• ESU started the second half with five shots in the first 10 minutes.
• GCU survived that barrage though to maintain a 1-0 lead.
• With less than 15 minutes to play,
Ryan Lee found
David Tuschmann who had recently subbed in and he made it a 2-0 game with his second goal of the season.
• The Lion defense was strong the rest of the way, allowing just one shot off which sailed high and the Lions left with a 2-0 win.
