Women's Soccer vs. Lincoln

Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer got back in the win column with a shutout victory over CACC newcomer, Lincoln. GCU earned a 2-0 win behind a goal in each half to improve to 9-4-1 overall and 6-2 in the CACC. 

How it Happened
• Georgian Court was in firm possession of this one. They outshot Lincoln 9-5 and doubled them up in shots on goal, 6-3.
• GCU was pushing everything towards the Lincoln goal. They earned five corner kicks with Lincoln attempting just one.
• Foul numbers were very low. Just 10 total, six for GCU and four for Lincoln who was also issued the only yellow card. 
• Georgian Court was generating pressure early, but didn't have much to show for it. 
• GCU was controlling the pace of play in the Lincoln zone, getting off shots and earning corner kicks. 
• Finally, in the 27th minute, Georgian Court broke through. A throw in deep in the Lincoln defensive zone started the play. Chiamaka Wokocha centered a pass to Breana Parkinson who pushed it forward where Seanna Boan was waiting to send it into the lower right corner for the game's first tally. 
• Following the goal though, GCU didn't get another shot off until there was less than 10 seconds left in the half. It was a good look from Wokocha who got free inside the box, but was right into the chest of Lincoln goalkeeper Nevaeh Washington. 
• The Georgian Court defense was outstanding in the opening half giving up just two total shots. 
• The start of the second half looked just like the first with Georgian Court dominating possession.
• GCU had opportunities, especially on a couple of corner kicks, but couldn't hit the back of the net and it remained a one-goal game. 
• Lincoln had a nice scoring opportunity in the 75th minute. They carried into the box and had two cracks at the net, one blocked and the rebound went directly to Delanie Wilkinson in goal.
• Following that Lincoln scoring chance, Georgian Court capitalized in transition with a little give and go. Chelsea Lavezzo won the punt at midfield and sent it forward to a streaking Wokocha. Lavezzo followed the play and Wokocha passed it back to a wide-open Lavezzo in the box who chipped it into the net for a 2-0 lead.
• Lincoln responded with another great scoring opportunity. They again got into the box and created havoc around the goal, but couldn't get anything across the line. 
• Lincoln also had some late free kick opportunities, but the Georgian Court defense held strong to preserve the shutout win. 

Lion Stat Leaders
• Delanie Wilkinson made three saves in goal. 
Seanna Boan scored the game-winner amonger her team-best three shots.
Breana Parkinson picked up an assist on the first goal.
• Chiamaka Wokacha came off the bench to pick up an assist.
Chelsea Lavezzo scored her 11th of the season. 

For Lincoln
• Ariel Reyes made three saves.
• Grace Quiah had three of Lincoln's five shots. 
• Justyce King added a shot on goal. 

News and Notes
• For Georgian Court, the first half ended ended a draught of 348 minutes without scoring.
• This was the second time in the last three matches that Georgian Court faced another team with "Lions" as the surname. 
Jessica Ford started her 50th career game. 
• Georgian Court has still never lost to Lincoln. They are now 6-0-1 all-time and have outscored them 41-1. 
• This was the two team's first meeting as conference opponents with Lincoln joining the CACC in women's soccer this year. 
• This is Georgian Court's fourth shutout in the last five games.

• Georgian Court comes home Saturday, Oct. 26. They'll play host to Post start at 12:30 pm with the men's game to follow.
