Men's Soccer to Host Preseason Favorites

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 25, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer looks to start a new winning streak, beginning Saturday with the CACC defending champions.

Previously vs. Post
• Historically, Georgian Court has struggled against Post. The Lions have just one win in 13 all-time matchups.
• The win came back in 2019, a 2-1 victory at home.
• GCU has been shutout in each of the last two matches, including a 3-0 loss last season.
• After a scoreless first half, Post broke through with a goal in the 60th minute.
• GCU kept it close, but the Eagles put the match away with two goals in the final six minutes. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court went to Caldwell and saw their eight-match winning streak come to an end.
• The Cougars scored in the sixth minute and made that one goal hold up for a 1-0 win.
• Ayendi Batista made six saves in the loss.

• Gijs van Eif needs one point for sole possession of fifth place on the all-time list and one goal to tie for third for a single-season.
• Also moving up that career goals list is David Tuschmann. He's one goal away from 10 which would tie him for 10th in Lions history. 
• Another shutout from Ayendi Batista will give him five which will be second-most for a single-season in Lions history and fourth for a career.
• Ryan Lee is 61 minutes away from 4000. Tim Wilk is 52 minutes short of 1000.
• Svante Haakansson needs three points for 20.
• Oscar Jannesson's next game played will be his 50th. 
• Mikey Mallon is three assists away from the Lions single-season record. Three more will also move him into second place on the career list. 

CACC Leaders (Based on NCAA Statistics)
• Gijs van Eif is second in the CACC with 22 points and third with 10 goals. Both of those rank 14th nationally. 
• At 1.019, Ayendi Batista is third in the CACC in goals against average. His .810 save percentage is also third. 
• Mikey Mallon is second in the league with 0.67 assists per game. His eight assists are eighth nationally. 
• Freshman Svante Haakansson is now in the top-5 in the CACC in both points and goals. He also leads the league in game-winners with three, which is 11th in Division II. 
• The Lions' 1.64 assists per game and 23 total assists are second in the conference.
• With 5.36 points per game, GCU is fourth in the CACC.
• The Lions have the number four scoring offense generating 1.86 goals per game. They're also third in goal differential at +7.

• Ayendi Batista is 8-1 in his last nine games with seven goals allowed in that span.

About Post
• Post has won five consecutive CACC Tournament championships.
• They were once again picked to finish first in the league to start 2024.
• The Eagles are off to a bit of a slow start with four losses and three ties to go along with seven wins. They are 5-1-2 in CACC play and near the top of the standings.
• With a win on Tuesday, Post has won four of their last five games and all four wins have been by a 2-0 score. 
• Post has long been a very strong defensive team. They are currently being outscored though 22-16.
• The Eagles are middle of the pack in the CACC in most statistical categories. They do lead the league though in shot accuracy with more than 52% hitting the net. 
• Riccardo Moreno has seen most of the opportunities in goal. He's responsible for those four shutout wins in the last five games. He's allowing 1.09 goals against average with a .792 save percentage.
• On the field of play, Len Fliss is the team's leading scorer with five goals and 11 points. Luca Dettoli has three goals on the year.
