LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 26, 2024) - Georgian Court Volleyball picked up their second consecutive CACC sweep Saturday morning against Bloomfield. The Lions dominated from the first point for a 3-0 win (25-10, 25-17, 25-16). With the win, Georgian Court has now won nine of their first 10 conference games and improve to 12-8 overall.
How it Happened
• GCU held Bloomfield to a below .000 hitting percentage with 17 kills and 19 errors. The Lions hit .270 themselves landing 41 kills.
• The Lions had a big advantage on the block averaging two per set with six total to the Bears 2.5.
• Bloomfield did a nice job getting the ball over the net on serves, committing just three errors. They hit just three aces though while the Lions landed 10.
Set 1
• Georgian Court never trailed in the opening frame. They took an 8-2 lead early and never looked back.

Amari Morales served up nine straight points, including three aces and GCU was all over the Bears, 20-4.
• Bloomfield got some points late, but the outcome was never in question. Set one went to GCU, 25-10.
• The Lions hit .385 in the frame with 15 kills.
Set 2
• Set two was much more competitive. That featured nine ties and six lead changes.
• The teams were going back and forth for a bit when Bloomfield scored four straight to take an 11-7 lead and force a Lion timeout.
• GCU quickly rebounded with four straight kills, two coming from
Amiyah Woods.
• With the Lions up one, 17-16, GCU ended the set on an 8-1 run, helped out by three Bear attack errors, and went up 2-0 with a 25-17 set two victory.
Set 3
• Bloomfield scored the first point in set three, but the Lions proceeded to score the next eight.

Giorgia Cappelletti had two service aces and
Nylene Mateo three kills during the run.
• Bloomfield did their best to hang tough, getting things as close at five, 20-15, thanks in part to a 9-4 run of their own.
• The Lions scored the final four points though to complete the sweep, with a service ace from Mateo the final point.
